The shame of it all that we should be so proud (and are) of our own Malaysian receiving an international award like this, but the Malaysian government and press don't see it as important enough to publish it in our local dailies! It was only published by THE SUN but rather small and hidden in the inner pages. WHY???!!!!... Never mind if they don't publish in the papers......lets circulate ........

Our final speaker, Ambiga Sreenevasan, has a remarkable record of accomplishment in Malaysia. She has pursued judicial reform and good governance, she has stood up for religious tolerance, and she has been a resolute advocate of women’s equality and their full political participation. She is someone who is not only working in her own country, but whose influence is felt beyond the borders of Malaysia. And it is a great honor to recognize her and invite her to the podium. (Applause.)

MS. SREENEVASAN:
The First Lady Mrs. Obama, Madame Secretary Hillary Clinton, ladies and gentlemen, I am humbled to be in the company of seven extraordinary women receiving this award for courage, and I am deeply honored to now speak on their behalf and on mine. We accept this award in all humility, remembering that we have been fortunate in being singled out from among countless courageous women in our countries who are dedicated to the cause of equality and justice.

It is also timely for us to remember all the women in other conflict-ridden territories, like Palestine and other countries, who have to show courage every single day in their struggle to survive and to keep their families together. Each of us fights causes that promote equality and justice, and by presenting us with this award you honor those causes and all the people who work tirelessly for them with unflinching dedication.

This award will help to bring to the international stage our voices and our advocacy on these important issues. This occasion gives us an opportunity to reflect on the importance of the rule of law in promoting the rights of women around the world. When the rule of law is upheld, equality is upheld, the cause of justice is upheld, and human rights are upheld. Today, we are witnessing a struggle for the souls of our nations, taking place between the forces of the old and the forces of change. We see our commitment to the rule of law, fundamental liberties, and the independence of our institutions being tested. The strength of our nations will depend on how well they withstand this test.

There are those who claim that democracy is a Western concept and is unsuitable elsewhere. There are yet others who perpetrate injustices behind a veneer of democracy. We say that democracy is universal, and a true democracy and the rule of law will prevail when the collective voices of the people are raised in its support.

On my part, I have for the past two years had the privilege to lead and serve the Malaysian Bar, a professional organization consisting of approximately 13,000 lawyers. History will bear testament to the fact that the Malaysian Bar has always been true to its first article of faith, to uphold the cause of justice without regard to its own interests or that of its members uninfluenced by fear or favor.

In a sense, I was merely stepping into the shoes of the many other brave leaders of the bar who came before me, whereas many of the awardees today are pioneers in their struggle for justice. This award has given us the opportunity which we would not otherwise have had, to share our stories, our successes, our failures, to reach out across our borders and to establish a base upon which we can build a meaningful network of support. These stories must be told in all our countries.

By this experience, we are both enriched and enraged; enriched by what we have shared, and enraged that so many of our sisters endure intimidation and suffering in their countries. Nevertheless, ours is a message of hope that something has been achieved, despite the odds. Martin Luther King said, “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” This means that although we may come from different walks of life, our struggle is common.

And each success is a success for all, just as each failure is a failure for all. When we unite on a human rights platform, whether domestically or internationally, above politics and political alliances, we create more enduring partnerships and relationships. When we pursue freedom and empowerment for others, we reaffirm and protect our own. In my interaction with the other awardees present here today, it was evident that the passion we feel for our causes is driven by the love of our homelands and our people. That, in turn, drives our passion for what is right and what is just. Our people deserve nothing less. We all believe in striving for ideals that are– if I may borrow the words – self-evident; namely, the ideals of truth, justice, goodness, and universal love and understanding. Our stories are a testament to the universality of these ideals.

We are truly and deeply honored by this award, more so, when it comes from you, Madame Secretary, yourself a woman of courage, who has inspired women around the world to reach great heights. Your untiring efforts in championing women’s rights worldwide are well known. Your immortal words that, “Human rights are women’s rights, and women’s rights are human rights,” resonate with all of us here. We would also like to express our deep admiration for the First Lady Mrs. Obama, and we would also like to express our appreciation for your sharing this moment with us. Madame Secretary, on behalf of all the awardees, I thank you. And we accept the honor with humility and pride. Thank you. (Applause.)

PM, Umno-BN Come Begging For Chinese Votes

I cried when reading Najib's speech delivered by his deputy Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin at the 2nd World Chinese Economic Forum. I cried not because of happiness nor recognition but the insincere and hypocritical treatment of the Malaysian Chinese by the PM.

They can keep on bashing the Malaysian Chinese of being ungrateful, pendatang, prostitutes, si-sepet and claiming that they do not need the Malaysian Chinese votes to stay in power. No one can questions their imaginary ketuanan and special rights. The PM and also their president was very brave with his threat while giving his umno speech.Now in sick bed and facing the real threat of losing the 13th GE without the Malaysian Chinese supports, the PM takes the opportunity of the 2nd World Chinese Economic Forum to beg for the Malaysian Chinese votes. He has no choice but to recognise that Malaysia will not be what it is today without the Malaysian Chinese support.Now we want to see what umno, perkasa and Mahathir have to say about this speech by Najib.

“Malaysia would not be what it is today without the industry, expertise and dedication of the Malaysian Chinese community,” “Likewise, there will be a bleak future for Malaysia without the Chinese community’s support. We would clearly fall short of reaching the goals to become a developed nation by 2020.”He added that the community formed the backbone of the Malaysian economy through its small and medium enterprises.

This speech can proof only one thing, that Malaysian Chinese can survive without any government's handout and do not have the time to quarrel or argue about the ketuanan melayu and their special rights, 54 years have shown that.Speeches are just speeches and they are meaningless without action.

What the Chinese Want (Malaysian)

In the mood for celebrations?

Every time the Barisan Nasional gets less than the expected support from Chinese voters at an election, the question invariably pops up among the petty-minded: Why are the Chinese ungrateful?So now, after the Hulu Selangor by-election, it’s not surprising to read in Utusan Malaysia a piece that asks: “Orang Cina Malaysia , apa lagi yang anda mahu?” (Chinese of Malaysia , what more do you want?)

Normally, something intentionally provocative and propagandistic as this doesn’t deserve to be honoured with a reply. But even though I’m fed up of such disruptive and ethnocentric polemics, this time I feel obliged to reply – partly because the article has also been published, in an English translation, in the Straits Times of Singapore.

I wish to emphasise here that I am replying not as a Chinese Malaysian but, simply, as a Malaysian.

Let me say at the outset that the Chinese have got nothing more than what any citizen should get. So to ask “what more” it is they want, is misguided. A correct question would be “What do the Chinese want?”

All our lives, we Chinese have held to the belief that no one owes us a living. We have to work for it. Most of us have got where we are by the sweat of our brow, not by handouts or the policies of the government.

We have come to expect nothing – not awards, not accolades, not gifts from official sources. (Let’s not lump in Datukships, that’s a different ball game.) We know that no Chinese who writes in the Chinese language will ever be bestowed the title of Sasterawan Negara, unlike in Singapore where the literatures of all the main language streams are recognised and honoured with the Cultural Medallion, etc.

We have learned we can’t expect the government to grant us scholarships. Some will get those, but countless others won’t. We’ve learned to live with that and to work extra hard in order to support our children to attain higher education – because education is very important to us. We experience a lot of daily pressure to achieve that. Unfortunately, not many non-Chinese realise or understand that. In fact, many Chinese had no choice but to emigrate for the sake of their children’s further education. Or to accept scholarships from abroad, many from Singapore , which has inevitably led to a brain drain.

The writer of the Utusan article says the Chinese “account for most of the students” enrolled in “the best private colleges in Malaysia ”. Even so, the Chinese still have to pay a lot of money to have their children study in these colleges. And to earn that money, the parents have to work very hard. The money does not fall from the sky.

The writer goes on to add: “The Malays can gain admission into only government-owned colleges of ordinary reputation.” That is utter nonsense. Some of these colleges are meant for the cream of the Malay crop of students and are endowed with the best facilities. They are given elite treatment.

The writer also fails to acknowledge that the Chinese are barred from being admitted to some of these colleges. As a result, the Chinese are forced to pay more money to go to private colleges. Furthermore, the Malays are also welcome to enrol in the private colleges, and many of them do. It’s, after all, a free enterprise.

Plain and simple reason

The writer claims that the Chinese live “in the lap of luxury” and lead lives that are “more than ordinary” whereas the Malays in Singapore , their minority-race counterparts there, lead “ordinary lives”. Such sweeping statements sound inane especially when they are not backed up by definitions of “lap of luxury” and “ordinary lives”. They sound hysterical, if not hilarious as well, when they are not backed up by evidence. It’s surprising that a national daily like Utusan Malaysia would publish something as idiosyncratic as that. And the Straits Times too. All smiles from PM NajibThe writer quotes from a survey that said eight of the 10 richest people in Malaysia are Chinese. Well, if these people are where they are, it must have also come from hard work and prudent business sense. Is that something to be faulted?

If the writer had said that some of them achieved greater wealth through being given crony privileges and lucrative contracts by the government, there might be a point, but even then, it would still take hard work and business acumen to secure success. Certainly, Syed Mokhtar Al-Bukhary, who is one of the 10, would take exception if it were said that he has not worked hard and lacks business savvy.

Most important, it should be noted that the eight Chinese tycoons mentioned in the survey represent but a minuscule percentage of the wider Chinese Malaysian population. To extrapolate that because eight Chinese are filthy rich, the rest of the Chinese must therefore live in the lap of luxury and lead more than ordinary lives would be a mockery of the truth. The writer has obviously not met the vast numbers of very poor Chinese.

The crux of the writer’s article is that the Chinese are not grateful to the government by not voting for Barisan Nasional at the Hulu Selangor by-election. But this demonstrates the thinking of either a simple mind or a closed one.

Why did the Chinese by and large not vote for BN? Because it’s corrupt. Plain and simple. Let’s call a spade a spade. And BN showed how corrupt it was during the campaign by throwing bribes to the electorate, including promising RM3 million to the Chinese school in Rasa.

The Chinese were not alone in seeing this corruption. The figures are unofficial but one could assume that at least 40 per cent of Malays and 45 per cent of Indians who voted against BN in that by-election also had their eyes open.

So, what’s wrong with not supporting a government that is corrupt? If the government is corrupt, do we continue to support it?

To answer the question then, what do the Chinese want? They want a government that is not corrupt; that can govern well and proves to have done so; that tells the truth rather than lies; that follows the rule of law; that upholds rather than abuses the country’s sacred institutions. BN does not fit that description, so the Chinese don’t vote for it. This is not what only the Chinese want. It is something every sensible Malaysian, regardless of race, wants. Is that something that is too difficult to understand?

Some people think that the government is to be equated with the country, and therefore if someone does not support the government, they are being disloyal to the country. This is a complete fallacy. BN is not Malaysia . It is merely a political coalition that is the government of the day. Rejecting BN is not rejecting the country.

A sense of belonging

Let’s be clear about this important distinction. In America , the people sometimes vote for the Democrats and sometimes for the Republicans. Voting against the one that is in government at the time is not considered disloyalty to the country.

Banner reads 'We are Malaysians too' - By the same token, voting against Umno is also voting against a party, not against a race. And if the Chinese or whoever criticise Umno, they are criticising the party; they are not criticising Malays. It just happens that Umno’s leaders are Malay.

It is time all Malaysians realised this so that we can once and for all dispel the confusion. Let us no more confuse country with government. We can love our country and at the same time hate the government. It is perfectly all right.

I should add here what the Chinese don’t want. We don’t want to be insulted, to be called pendatang, or told to be grateful for our citizenship. We have been loyal citizens; we duly and dutifully pay taxes; we respect the country’s constitution and its institutions. Our forefathers came to this country generations ago and helped it to prosper. We are continuing to contribute to the country's growth and development.

Would anyone like to be disparaged, made to feel unwelcome, unwanted? For the benefit of the writer of the Utusan article, what MCA president Chua Soi Lek means when he says the MCA needs to be more vocal is that it needs to speak up whenever the Chinese community is disparaged. For too long, the MCA has not spoken up strongly enough when Umno politicians and associates like Ahmad Ismail, Nasir Safar, Ahmad Noh and others before them insulted the Chinese and made them feel like they don’t belong. That’s why the Chinese have largely rejected the MCA.

You see, the Chinese, like all human beings, want self-respect. And a sense of belonging in this country they call home. That is all the Chinese want, and have always wanted. Nothing more.

How apt this is judging at how this country is run by "sleeping" morons!

Just the other day someone was making a point in the media about Malaysia wages 25 years ago and today.

Then, a starting wage for an engineer was RM2500.00 and now, still is RM2500.00. But, those days RM1.00 could buy you a lot of things but now, not even enough to pay a parking ticket (depends on where you are in Malaysia).

Yeah, still harping on "30% shares" where the majority of the rakyat (working Malaysians) are screwed (paying more Tax / GST soon) and getting poorer by the day!

Who said green cars can’t be mean? Not Porsche. On the eve of the Geneva Auto Show, the Stuttgart-based company took the wraps off the 918 Spyder Concept, a 2-seat mid-engine supercar with hybrid and electric drive technology.

Just how fast is this thing? Well, Porsche says the 918 Spyder Concept hits 100 km/h (62 mph) in less than 3.2 seconds, and it blasts to a top speed of 198 mph. Not only that, it laps the Nürburgring in less than 7 minutes 30 seconds, which means it’s even faster than the hallowed Carrera GT.

Just how green is it? Porsche says that, when driven accordingly, the plug-in hybrid 918 Spyder Concept gets an outstanding 78 mpg, with an emissions level of just 70 grams of C02 per kilometer.

The 918 Spyder Concept is powered by a high-revving V-8 related to the 3.4-liter in the Porsche RS Spyder racing car. In 918 Spyder form, this mid-mounted engine revs to 9200 rpm and produces more than 500 bhp. Electric motors at the front and rear axles add an additional 218 horsepower to the output. The V-8’s power, and that of the rear electric motor, reaches the Spyder Concept’s rear wheels via a 7-speed PDK gearbox. The drive to the front wheels is pure electric, via a fixed ratio. The liquid-cooled lithium-ion battery pack behind the cockpit can be charged at home, or by brake regeneration.

Four distinct driving modes are available. E Drive is solely electric power, with a range of up to 16 miles. In Hybrid mode, electric power and gasoline power are used as conditions warrant, in ways designed to maximize economy or performance. In Sport Hybrid mode, in which both drive systems maximize performance, most of the power goes rearward, aided by torque vectoring to help the car’s dynamics. Lastly, there’s Race Hybrid mode for the utmost performance, such as running at the limit on the racetrack. In this mode, there’s even a “push to pass” E-Boost feature that feeds in added electrical power for overtaking… or better lap times.

The 918 Spyder’s modular chassis is made of CFP (carbon-fiber-reinforced plastic), while Porsche has also employed lots of magnesium and aluminum to keep the car’s weight down to a reasonably svelte 3285 lb. Aesthetically, the 918 Spyder looks very much like a relative of the Carrera GT. It also looks like it would be perfectly at home on the road or the track. Variable aerodynamics, especially around the rear spoiler, are necessary in a car with such a fast top speed, and the rear hoods extending back from the headrests accommodate retractable air intakes that provide a ram-air function.

Porsche says the interior of the 918 Spyder Concept offers a glimpse of the future, and we’re glad that it remains driver-oriented with circular dial gauges. On the left is one for road speed; in the middle is engine speed (right where it belongs); and on the right is the energy-management gauge. Modernity is addressed via the center console, which has a touch screen for what Porsche calls “intuitive” control of the car’s functions.

Lastly, the 918 Spyder Concept is fitted with a Range Manager. Using the map in the satellite navigation system, the Range Manager displays the remaining range the Spyder is able to cover. And in cities, it will tell you if you can reach your destination on electric power alone. Just the thing to make sure you arrive at the Nürburgring with a full tank.

We admit the Porsche 918 Spyder Concept took us by surprise at Geneva. But we very much like what we see, and the fact that this Porsche has lapped the Nürburgring proves it’s more than a “pie in the sky” concept. It has real production possibilities; and we’re delighted that Porsche sees driving fun as a vital part of its future.

A car that needs protection in local market after 25 years now want to go global .... hahahaaa. A car that needs bailout by protectionist policy and a car that cannot find global partner now exhibiting in Geneva prestigious motorshow ... hahahahaaaa. Btw, why overseas designers ....after 25 years still cannot design ar???

That's why people in the world think Malaysia is a laughing stock, thanks and no thanks to the policy makers and this oldman is still running the show wanting to put the already shamed proton in the global eyes.

Wah wah wah, you think is play play toys ar .... before bringing to Geneva Motor Show, start KL motor show first la .... and see what are the comments you get ..... don't need to go far just read the comments in Malaysia Insider enough to gauge the potential failure of this proton. And the name of the concept car ... how can they named it "Emas" means gold you know! The whitemen will think gold is definitely not a lousy brand like proton, isn't it? Hmmmm, then Ferrari must be GOd-car la.

The truth is ....a proton car that running on the road after a while will give you all the creaking sound that will drive you bonkers!!! Don't believe, try one today. Go Geneva, phui!

I Am Pissed

How do you find the situation so odd that one after another PKR MPs are starting to jump like frogs. So, alas we all know that it is ALL ABOUT THE MONEY IN THE BANK, huh!

Disagree .... what about those published stories about how this Zzzzrain fella failed in his bid to get a RM2 company of his interest to get a contract to manage a prestigious golf club in Penang that resulted in his quitting PKR?

What about this Saaaaladin fella failed in his bid to get a CEO post that could give him RM50K a month paycheck again did the most holiest thing (to him la) to jump like a frog to the other side?

And there is this fella Faaaruz, a former Penang DCM who quit all his posts in PKR not long ago and now in keris cosplay with Naaahjib (frontpage in most dailies) so proudly become one of the frogs.

All and many of the FROGS have one common issue as I have read somewhere, some publications that claimed they either being investigated by MACC (former ACA, which was no better) or have lost confidence in the party (PKR) leadership. You and I know that the PKR leader is facing second sodomy trial.

How strange .... there is also a claim that they all met up with PM and spouse before quitting. Anyone is welcome to meet PM and spouse but for these frogs, don't you like to think that they are "IN" for something ala golden handshake of a kind, like the previous three frogs from Perak??? Those three old frogs had the same issue before quitting! Right?

Of course, the right thing to say is 'I have lost confident ..... that's why I quit the party and bla bla bla'. Sounds very noble. But I shit in their faces to say that it is all about the money and personal goals.

Do you think that these frogs or potential frogs are in there for the sake of the rakyat, to sweat for the people who voted them in, to serve for the sake of serving .... naaaahhhh! I bet these frogs are all having "red eyes" knowing that being over the "other side" can see Money In The Bank and what a chance to jump when they know 'a chance of a lifetime' comes a knocking when the powers that be are looking for 2/3 majority in parliament.

I am pissed everytime looking at the newspaper that offer me nothing but shit story about these jumping frogs here and there. Even their very faces pissed me off. Shit!

The Truth - the Bad Guy Is....

Umno says that Lim Guan Eng, the Chief Minister of Penang, is anti-Malay. Umno also says that the Malays in Penang are being persecuted and are being given a raw deal. But Umno did not offer any statistics to back up this allegation. Maybe the following statistics, which Umno did not show, can help clear the air on how the Malays in Penang are ‘suffering’.

LGE, you have made us all very proud of you. In the history of this racist party called um-no/bn, they have not been able to prove what they preach, even what they are trying to prove is still fake....faking is their name of the game!

FEB 7 — Mungkin kerana warna kulitnya, agamanya, bahasa ibundanya dan ketegasannya untuk membasmi rasuah, penyelewengan dan salah guna kuasa, Lim Guan Eng menjadi mangsa kecaman dan ancaman hebat dari kumpulan-kumpulan yang mengaku wira Melayu. Lebih teruk lagi, Ketua Menteri Pulau Pinang itu turut menjadi sasaran segelintir pemimpin politik parti komponen Pakatan Rakyat.

Tuduhan yang paling berat terhadapnya ditujukan dari seorang “sahabat” Parti Keadilan Rakyat yang mendakwa dakwaan Guan Eng adalah “diktator, cauvinis dan berfikiran komunis”. Tetapi benarkah Guan Eng seorang pemimpin yang begitu kejam dan zalim sekali?

Dalam wawacara Guan Eng bersama Harakah baru-baru ini, beliau berkongsi pandangan tentang usaha kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang untuk menjadikan rakyat negeri berdaya saing, dengan mengemukakan contoh perubahan sikap masyarakat di negara komunis China:

“Dulu di negeri China pada tahun 60-an dan 70-an, ekonominya begitu mundur sekali. Rakyat hidup merana tanpa bantuan. Malah ekonomi China dianggap sebagai pesakit Asia. Kenapa? Kerana dasar kerajaan komunis tak boleh jalan. Dasar di mana semua akan makan satu mangkuk nasi. Tak kira kerja kuat atau tak kerja, semua akan dapat satu mangkuk nasi. Yang kerja lapan jam, dapat satu mangkuk. Yang kerja lapan minit pun satu mangkuk. Siapa nak bertungkus lumus? Siapa nak kerja rajin dan tekun? Sebab itu orang China waktu itu malas berkerja. Adakah malas kerana mereka sendiri malas? Bukan. Tapi kerana dasar subsidi membuatkan mereka malas. Tapi kita bukan buat dengan serentaklah. Tapi kita mesti ada dasar baik supaya mereka dapat berdaya saing. Bila mereka ikut dasar yang maju, menggalakkan mereka berdaya saing, saya rasa itu adalah sesuatu yang paling baik untuk orang Melayu dan juga negara Malaysia.

“Kita tengok China, selepas dasar diubah mereka terus menjadi maju. Daripada malas mereka manjadi rajin kerana dasar galakkan, kalau sesiapa tak kerja, dia akan lapar. Kalau kerja, baru boleh kenyang. Jadi semua akan kerja. Sama dengan di sini, kena kerja, bukan kita bagi wang sahaja. Kalau kita bagi wang kepada orang muda, mereka guna beli motosikal, jadi mat rempit. Tapi bila mereka kerja dan dapat duit, mereka akan menghargainya. Saya rasa itu yang lebih penting.”

Nampaknya seorang pemimpin yang dituduh “berfikiran komunis” telah menolak sistem komunis yang dilihatnya sebagai punca rakyat menjadi malas dan ekonomi negara hancur.

Sekarang, tuduhan yang mengatakan Guan Eng “diktator, cauvinis dan berfikiran komunis” yang dilemparkan oleh seorang pemimpin PKR itu kini menjadi slogan dan kain rentang kumpulan-kumpulan pro-Umno untuk mengecam dan memaki-hamun Setiausaha Agung DAP berkenaan.

Baru-baru ini, kumpulan-kumpulan berkenaan telah mengadakan tunjuk perasaan dengan membakar patung Guan Eng di khalayak ramai dan berarak merempuh masuk bangunan Komtar yang menempatkan pejabat Keua Menteri Pulau Pinang, tanpa diganggu atau disekat oleh pihak polis.

Kumpulan-kumpulan ini marah dengan Guan Eng kerana dikatakan menindas orang Melayu berikutan langkah pihak berkuasa tempatan mengambil tindakan terhadap penjaja dan gerai yang tidak berlesen serta mengganggu kawasan awam. Walau pun kerajaan negeri telah menjelaskan bahawa tindakan dilakukan kerana pelanggaran undang-undang dan bukannya atas dasar warna kulit, kumpulan-kumpulan itu tetap memekik “Lim Guan Eng diktator rasis”.

Perangkaan yang didedahkan oleh kerajaan negeri Pulau Pinang secara amnya menunjukkan Majlis Perbandaran Pulau Pinang (MPPP) mengenakan tindakan terhadap 1,727 penjaja Cina, 815 penjaja Melayu dan 247 penjaja India kerana menjalankan perniagaan tanpa lesen pada tahun lalu. Pada tahun 2008, 1,082 penjaja Cina, 785 penjaja Melayu dan 196 penjaja India dikenakan tindakan atas kesalahan yang sama.

Yang dihebohkan sebagai kezaliman kerajaan negeri pula ialah isu perobohan gerai di dareah Timur Laut Pulau Pinang. Sembilan gerai peniaga Melayu diroboh manakala masing-masing lima dan tiga gerai milik peniaga Cina dan India (serta enam yang tidak diketahui kaum) menerima nasib yang sama sejak tahun 2008. Apa yang tidak diceritakan ialah hampir semua gerai yang dirobohkan itu sudah ditawarkan tapak alternatif yang berdekatan. Ada yang menerima tawaran, ada pula yang menolak tawaran.

Bagi daerah Barat Daya negeri pula, tidak ada satu pun tindakan dikenakan terhadap peniaga Melayu manakala lima bangsal milik peniaga Cina dan dua India dirobohkan, termasuk yang dirobohkan sendiri oleh pemilik setelah mendapat notis.

Bagi gerai-gerai lain pula, tindakan mengubah kerusi dan meja serta perkakas diambil kerana menghalang laluan dan lalu lintas di kawasan awam dan kaki lima. Sejak dua tahun lalu, 88 peniaga Melayu dikenakan tindakan itu. Sebelum tahun 2008, iaitu pada 2006 – 2007, 212 peniaga Melayu dikenakan tindakan atas kesalahan yang sama oleh kerajaan negeri Barisan Nasional.

Berhubung kesalahan di bawah akta yang membabitkan jalan, parit dan bangunan, 56 peniaga dan penjaja Cina dikenakan tindakan berbanding 10 penjaja Melayu dan enam penjaja India.

Sebagaimana yang dijelaskan oleh Exco Kerajaan Tempatan dan Pengurusan Lalu Lintas Negeri Chow Kon Yeow, tindakan penguatkuasaan diambil ke atas mereka yang tidak mematuhi undang-undang dan bukannya atas pertimbangan kaum. “Tidak ada kaum yang menikmati imuniti daripada tindakan penguatkuasaan.”

Nampaknya Guan Eng yang dituduh “cauvinis” telah tidak mempedulikan kaum Cina dalam soal menguatkuasakan undang-undang kerana pihak kerajaan negeri telah mengambil tindakan terhadap peniaga Cina yang melanggar undang-undang bersama-sama dengan peniaga kaum lain.

Penulis veteran Mohd Sayuti Omar turut mengulas isu yang sama dalam blognya:

“Saya nak tanya sekalian orang yang mendesak Guan Eng dan mengkritik beliau. Apakah benar Guan Eng bersikap kurang ajar dan tidak membela nasib Melayu? Saya rasa bukan saja saya, tetapi orang lain juga mahu melihat bukti-bukti apa yang dikatakan itu. Elok senaraikan apakah bentuk pengabaian terhadap orang Melayu dan jangan hanya tahu menuduh dan melolong mengatakan DAP mengabaikan Melayu.

“Kita tahun DAP memerintah Pulau Pinang belum sampai tiga tahun. Sebelum ini negeri itu diperintah orang Cina menerusi parti Gerakan. Apakah selama 35 tahun lalu nasib Pulau Pinang terbela? Dan apakah pengabaian dan pilih kasih oleh Gerakan boleh dimaafi dan diamkan saja?

“Kalau boleh untuk bersikap adil, NGO yang membantah Guan Eng kemukakan statistik mengenai kedudukan orang Melayu Pulang Pinang baik dalam pemilikan hartanah, pendapatan, pengangguran dan sebagainya. Bandingkan juga kehidupan orang Melayu semasa 35 tahun Gerakan memerintah dengan DAP yang baru dua tiga tahun ini.”

Persoalan yang ditimbulkan oleh Mohd Sayuti memang tidak mendapat perhatian media arus perdana. Dengan itu, masih ada yang percaya bulat-bulat dengan isu yang dibesar-besarkan, malah ada yang bersifat fitnah semata-mata.

Apabila Guan Eng dituduh “diktator”, ia lebih mirip kepada soal persepsi dan pandangan peribadi. Hampir semua pemimpin politik ditohmah dengan gelaran itu; biasanya apabila seseorang pemimpin menolak pandangan yang dikemukakan.

Namun jika dikaitkan dengan isu-isu semasa, tuduhan “diktator” berkait rapat dengan isu segelintir ahli politik “sahabat” Pakatan Rakyat yang gagal mendapat “habuan”. Mungkin mereka ini masih gagal memahami dan menghayati urus tadbir cekap, akauntabel dan telus (CAT) yang dibawakan oleh kerajaan negeri pimpinan Guan Eng. Mungkin mereka masih mahu mengamalkan sistem kabel politik dan kronisme yang diamalkan sebelum ini.

Pada masa yang sama, Guan Eng juga perlu lebih mendekati suara hati rakyat dengan mendengar pandangan dan pendapat rakyat prihatin yang benar-benar mahu membangunkan negeri serta membantu golongan daif. Bagi orang politik, memang mudah untuk bercakap tetapi agak sukar bagi mereka untuk meluangkan masa mendengar cadangan, pandangan dan rayuan.

Melaksanakan apa yang dikatakan itu perlukan dilakukan secara berhemah dan penuh kebijakan. sebagaimana yang Guan Eng sendiri ujarkan, “saya yakin kalau sesebuah kerajaan itu baik, itu adalah kerana kerajaan itu berani dan percaya dengan rakyat. Kalau kerajaan itu buruk, jangan persalahkan rakyat kerana rakyat tidak jahat”.

Dengan itu, ramai akan menerima bahawa tohmahan “diktator, cauvinis dan berfikiran komunis” itu hanya cacian murahan yang dilafazkan dari mereka yang takut untuk menerima amalan keadilan, peluang saksama dan keterbukaan. Yang penting, rakyat mahu melihat Guan Eng melaksanakan amalan 5K yang dicanangkannya - kebenaran, kebebasan, keadilan, kebajikan kepada rakyat dan ketakwaan kepada Tuhan.

Surely I for one think the march and protest are nonsense. STUPID.

I'm a Buddhist. I have nothing against Islam, Christianity, Hinduism. I go to a famous church in my hometown to pray, I ever pray in Hindu temple but I never set foot in mosque as in my first thought is that as a non-Muslim, I'm NOT welcome there and I'm not allowed anywhere near nor inside there!!!

In Malaysia, in particular I always believe there are plenty of fanatics that think mosque is totally only for Muslims. So I avoid to even go near one.

Like I say, I go to church and temple but that does not mean I'm losing my faith in Buddhism. In fact I pray in church occasionally. I just walk in there and say my prayers.

So, Allah or God I think it is only the language of interpreting it as I call my Chinese God "God" in my mother tongue. So what the fcuk???

I'm ashamed of the fanatics in my country that acted in such cowardice manner i.e. burning down holy churches. The present day government should take the blame for NOT doing anything in advance.

No sabotage in Umno building

(NST) KUALA LUMPUR: The missing letters from the word "Umno" atop its party headquarters at the Putra World Trade Centre (PWTC) is a result of poor maintenance and not an act of sabotage, said Umno information chief Datuk Ahmad Maslan.
The missing letters on top of the Putra World Trade Centre.

He said the party secretariat and Putrade Property Management Sdn Bhd (Putrade), which is the management company of PWTC, had been informed of the "damage".

He added that swift action would be taken to replace the missing letters.

"I have advised Datuk Abdul Rauf Yusof and Putrade on the matter after receiving a text message from someone this morning.

"I will make sure that it will be fixed immediately."

Yesterday, blogger Ahirudin Atan of Rocky's Bru posted pictures of the Umno headquarters with only the "NO" and "UO" signs on the sides of the building.

Some claimed on the blog that it was a sign of "the end of Umno" due to the "NO" sign.

Ahmad said it was just a coincidence that the sign formed such a word.

TM (Telecom Malaysia) SUCKS!!!

Pick up from Patrick Teoh's blog....to heed his call for spreading the monopoly & lucrative business in Malaysia that sucks all the way to the bones.

It's been 3 maybe 4.......maybe 5 days? I don't remember and I have given up counting. But it's been days since I went to that Kedai TM Point at Ampang Point to transfer my phone and Streamyx to a new address. I do remember distinctly the TM pegawai fler's parting words were, "Kalau ada apa apa masaalah uncle panggil la nombor ni...100"

This morning I discovered that I cannot call 100 except from a TM landline! Which of course I don't have because they take at least 9 working days to affect a change of address. And I have yet had no call from the 'contractor' which would have marked the 1st day of the wait. So I am still in limbo as far as my phone line and Streamyx are concerned.

TM must be one of the most inefficient monopolies in Malaysia.

Some weeks ago when the other flers were doing their POTONG ads all over the place, TM came out with their defence. Remember that newspaper ad which showed some guy leaning out of his window with a gadget that looked incredibly like the Potong tool? The tagline in that TM ad was Why go with the unknown? My friend, Kurt came out with the perfect answer......

The subject certainly sounds good eh! That's what our bopid PM suggested to MCA, another bopid Chinese-based political party, in his so-called attempt to get involved and solve the party crisis. Oh yeah, thus headlining the Star newspaper today is "PM's Formula".

What a two-cent formula it is.... What about Perak state??? There is a crisis long brewing and remains unsolved!!! What....scared of the rakyat's verdict??? Scared of being Voted OUT again???

What about the nation's majority long dissatisfaction of the government of the day??? We don't have to wait till GE13, right?

Crime Watch - The Criminal Tricks

Just exercise precaution, do not overlook this publication. I like to believe these happenings are real.

(1) Today I passed by a building which has an ATM machine. There was an old man looking at me. Suddenly, he called me. He said he didn’t know how to read, so he gave me his ATM card and asked me to help him withdraw money from the ATM machine. I answered ‘NO! If you need help, ask the security to help you.’ Then he said ‘never mind…’ and continued to find other people to help him…

REMEMBER: ATM machines have CCTVs. If you help him he will later claim that you have robbed him or stolen his ATM card. Besides, his ATM card could be a stolen one. So please be careful of these tactics.

  (2) Suddenly your house lights go off. From your window you find that your neighbours still have their lights. So you go out of your house to check the Meter Box. But once you open the door, a knife will be pointing at you and preventing you from closing it. This is when you will be robbed and injured.

REMEMBER: Even though your electricity suddenly goes off, DO NOT open your door immediately. Look around to see if there is anything unusual or if there is any noise around.

  (3) This is another incident. You may have heard about it before; it is about a lady who saw a kid crying by the roadside. When she spoke to the kid, the kid told her he was lost and wanted her to take him home. The kid even gave her a paper with his house address. So she took him home. But when she rang the door bell, she had an electric shock. Later when she woke up, she was naked in an empty room.

REMEMBER: Being such a compassionate and helpful person might not be a good thing these days. Girls, please be careful. DON’T BE TOO KIND!

  (4) One day, there was an old lady outside my house holding two packets of sweets. At first I thought she was our neighbour and wanted to give us these packs of sweets as a gift. But then when she spoke, I realise that she was foreigner. I could not understand what she was talking about. I guessed she must be asking for money. I sensed there was something wrong and immediately closed the door and ignored her. Later, I found she and an accomplice robbed someone else down the road.

(5) I was at the ATM machine to withdraw some money. Behind me, there was an old lady. She asked me whether I was able to withdraw my money because she said she had problem em with the machine. Suddenly a small girl came up beside me. The small girl was tugging and squeezing in front of me. I thought she was just naughty and playful. But then, the small girl placed her hand inside the tray of the ATM machine where the money was being dispensed out; ready to take away my money. I sensed something wrong and immediately pushed her away. Later I realised that the small girl and the old lady worked hand in hand together. She was trying to steal my money while the old lady was trying to distract my attention by asking me questions!

REMEMBER: BE VERY CAREFUL when you are at an ATM machine and be alert. Look out for anyone suspicious around you!

(6) My parents are retired and stay at home most days. One afternoon, a young stranger went to their house and said his motorcycle had no more fuel and the petrol station was too far away, for him to push his bike there. So he asked my parents for an empty coke bottle to buy some petrol. He said he will pay RM2 for the bottle. So my mum gave one coke bottle to him. He really took out the money from his pocket, but it was a RM 100 note. He told my mum he had no small change and asked my mum to give him the change. Luckily my mum was smart. She just told him to take it for free.

REMEMBER: obviously that note is fake! Who would want to pay for RM2 for an empty coke bottle! It’s very OBVIOUS that that stranger was a trickster.

(7) This happened in Bali. A newly married couple was having their honeymoon at the hotel. When both were in the changing room, the wife suddenly went missing. The husband was very anxious and went around finding her. He asked the hotel staff to help him find her. Then he thought his wife was just playing hide and seek. So he went back and waited for his wife. After a few hours, he decided to call the police. Three weeks passed and there was still no news about his missing wife. So he went back and was very disappointed and sad. A few years later, he came back to Bali, to watch a ‘FREAK SHOW’ in an old house. He saw a dirty and rusty metal cage. Inside there was a lady without limbs. Her body including the face was full of scars. When he had a closer look at her face, he was shocked to find out that she was his missing wife caged there and used for begging.

  (8) This happened in Shanghai. A few years ago, a lady reported to the police that her cousin sister was missing in the shopping complex. But after five years, one of her friends found her cousin sister begging at the road side on one of the streets inBangkok, Thailand. The worst thing was that her cousin sister had no more limbs and her body was tied to a lamp post with a shackle (metal chain).

  (9) Let’s just shorten this story. DO NOT open your house door when you hear the sound of a BABY CRYING! It might be a trap! Women in the house must be alert to this form of trick. The police said it is the work of a robber or murderer using the recording of a crying baby to attract your attention. This normally happens at night and when you are alone in the house.

  (10) I read an e-mail that was sent by my friend. Her friend, known as A, went to Luo Hu Commercial City with 2 friends, B and C. Luo Hu Commercial City is known as the Shenzhen counterfeit goods distribution center.. There are many people there. It’s also near to the Shenzhen train station and Hong Kong’s Luo Hu Port. C went to the toilet at the shopping centre while A and B waited outside. After waiting for a long time they felt uneasy and went into the toilet to look for her. When they went in, there was nobody inside. Both were scared and they called C’s phone. There was no reply. So they reported to the police. The police asked them whether they had seen anybody suspicious going into the toilet. Both said there was none and it’s impossible to bring a person out of the toilet without them noticing! Then I remembered seeing a cleaner pushing a trolley in, and then coming out of the toilet. The police told them that were not the first time such a thing happened there. The police suspected a gang of criminals who were always attacking women in the toilets of shopping complexes. They use cleaners to kidnap people to harvest their organs for sale. REMEMBER: please be careful when using the toilet. Do not go to the wash room or toilet ALONE! Please at least have a partner with you.

Credit Card Tax

They did it, they did away with it. And now they want to do it again....... To me it's tantamount to Credit Card Tax.

RM50 to be imposed on credit card holders for each credit card that one holds. It was imposed this way when it all started years back. I got a few credit cards for convenience and emergency use. So now the stupid government wants to make some money out of us poor souls. They give "peanuts" in the recently announced Budget but want to squeeze the "balls" out of us.

Just imagine that one holds easily 4 cards at any one time. Yeah, that is because each bank will usually offer you two cards - one Visa and one Mastercard. Holding many cards from banks is not unusual because the banks very much would like you to. The banks make good profits from credit cards after all.

Giving the fact that everything in Malaysia is rather "not cheap", so we tend to even out our spending, some on cash and some on credit. We have one of the lowest per capita income, mind you! So we practically need some form of credit to survive.

Is that what you call 'Rakyat Didahulukan or Citizen First' in your very much publicized SLOGAN??? Bullshit.

In the recent AG Reports, there were billions of Ringgit lost due to over-priced purchases and slow at completion of projects thus escalating the costs, etc. Now, this is NOT something new. We don't hear of this only today. It has been years.........damn it!

Government of the day, please wake up, what are you going to do about it??? Close one eye??? Let it passes and wait for next year??? You tax us so much, have the highest taxed-car purchase in the world, blah blah blah and you just lose our hard-earned money like that to your cronies....what the f@#k!!!

Year in year out the government is good at talking but slow at reacting (action) to fact of life. This year is no different....in fact I would term it as the worst Budget.

Are they blind or what....how many of us are earning a salary at RM100K bracket annually??? That 1% tax cut actually does not reach nor help many people like us.

So the tax cut really benefits no ONE....STUPID government! 1Malaysia is a mere slogan, as I have said it since the day it was coined, it is an empty nutshell.

1. Usual sight - customer service counter is beautifully done and equipped but closed. Where? Government agencies or departments!

2. Free advertising in public places like this one is illegal and ugly. Contact numbers are pasted there to catch the culprits but no authorities care!

Noordin Top gunned down in ambush

(Reported in the Star newspaper today)

KUALA LUMPUR: Noordin Mat Top, Asia’s most wanted terrorist, was shot dead by a crack Indonesian anti-terrorism squad during a shoot-out in a village in Central Java.

The 41-year-old Malaysian-born Noordin, who had eluded the authorities for nine years, was gunned down along with three others in an ambush at his hideout in Solo. He was said to be responsible for a string of deadly bombings in Indonesia, including those in Bali in 2002 and two luxury hotels in Jakarta recently.

Indonesian police chief Bambang Hendarso Danuri confirmed Noordin was among the four killed, based on the initial comparison of fingerprints provided by Malaysian authorities. Others killed along with Noordin were “expert bomb-maker” Bagus Budi Pranoto, alias Ur-wah, close Noordin associate Ario Sudarso, alias Aji, and the person renting the house, Susilo.

Bambang said two men were also arrested and Susilo’s wife, who was wounded in the raid, was also in custody. Weapons, grenades and eight sacks of explosive material were found in the house, according to a police source.

Noordin fled Malaysia in 2001 during a crackdown by police here on suspected terror activities, following the uncovering of the Jemaah Islamiah network. He was initially thought to have been killed in a raid on Aug 8 but the body turned out to be that of an accomplice . Police tracked Noordin down after obtaining information from several terrorists suspects arrested some weeks ago.

Sources said the information enabled Indonesian police to place the group under surveillance. The squad stormed the house when they confirmed Noordin was among those inside. Noordin, once a lecturer in Johor, fled the country with fellow Malaysian Dr Azahari Husin, a bomb specialist. Azahari was also killed in a shoot-out with Indonesian police in Surabaya about three years ago.

KAPIT (Central Sarawak): Slippers and shoes are much needed by poor children living in remote pockets of Sarawak where such items are rare and expensive.

The Star, during a recent visit to three locations in the interior of Kapit Division, found the majority of toddlers and children without proper footwear.

Longhouses at the Lusong Laku, Long Tanyit and Long Lidem settlements are full of adults and children without shoes or slippers.

Barefooted and hungry: Penan children without footwear waiting for food aid to arrive at the Lusong Laku settlement in Kapit Division.

“We have no money to buy them,” said Johnson Maun, an eight-year-old boy.

The Star found only one sundry shop in Lusong Laku selling foodstuff and essential household items like soap and cooking utensils.

No slippers or shoes were available.

The shopowner said these items were expensive as the contractor who sent goods from Bintulu charged high prices to transport them.

Many children and toddlers suffer from skin problems on the soles of their feet due to being constantly barefooted.

The Miri Catholic Church is collecting donations for poor Penans in Kapit Division.

A lot of rice and foodstuff has been collected but no shoes or slippers.

Donors can take such items to Father Sylvester Ding at the Miri Carmelite Chapel or hand them to the Carmelite nuns for deployment to the needy children.

U-turn

Lately as we all know, in fact as always, our garmen has made many stupid U-turns. Like it or not, all the U-turns should not have occurred if our garmen used the head instead of the @$S to make important decisions.

Let's pick the "BIG" U-turn decisions recently. One minister announced Internet Censorship, Prime Minister denounced it immediately. Next, Home Minister happily defended the 'cow head protesters' with all the fanfare, the next day quickly announced police action must be taken against them. Of course as the saying goes, test the water first, if people make some noise, revert it. Villain turns hero - how nice, eh!

For what I think, there is a hidden agenda behind all these U-turns. Only they know. They are trying to fool us. But in the end, the are the ones look like bloody fools!

Most of Malaysia's top badminton players have just entered the Finals of Macau Open Badminton championship 2009. Veterans included of course.

Now what does it tell us....where they failed miserably last week in the World Championship when all hopes were on them to win?

This is what our players are only good about. Almost when most of the world's top players are absent from Macau thus taking away the pressure of playing against them, we triumph. Our players can't play under pressure! That's for sure.

Lee Chong Wei defeated Taufik Hidayat in a close match-up. Lee almost lost actually. And Wong Choon Hann beating Chen Jin in 3 games!!! Why didn't he play like today? Wong lost like a schoolboy last week! No bloody good!

Gotta change our losing mentality to no-fear-mentality and start winning where it matters most.

Simply put it because they are a bunch of LOSERS. Any players can lose but not the way top Malaysia's players do. Take for example in the World Championship 2009 in India.

KUALA LUMPUR, May 12 - Datuk Dr Zambry Kadir invited scorn and ridicule today by invoking the name of Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi to describe his political challenges. (My quote....that's absolutely right)

“Nelson Mandela sacrificed his freedom for 27 years to free the people of South African from apartheid. (My quote....what did you do in weeks....monkeying around!)

“Mahatma Gandhi, on the other hand, sacrificed his life to ensure India’s independence," he wrote in a posting on his blog today.(My quote....but you are sacrificing the people's livelihood by staying in there - the people did not vote you in!)

He then went on to compare his endurance of what he said were the Pakatan Rakyat's (PR) politics of hatred to what the South African and the Indian icons of the struggle against oppressive regimes. (My quote....he's miles apart to even compare to these icons)

Zambry acknowledged, however, that his political struggles did not result in him suffering any physical harm or the loss of his liberty. (My quote....that's absolutely right, then what are you ranting about???)

The Barisan Nasional (BN) man was appointed the mentri besar of Perak in February in a power grab which saw the downfall of the PR government, but yesterday a High Court decision declared his rival Datuk Seri Nizar Jamaluddin as the rightful chief executive of the state.

This morning, Zambry managed to obtain a stay from the Court of Appeal.

In his blog posting, Zambry also accused PR leaders of being greedy for power. (My quote....that's absolutely wrong - we all know who's!)

Besides Mandela and Gandhi, the BN man also borrowed the words of Martin Luther King, the American civil rights leader who was assassinated in the 1960s. (My quote....you are not fit, not in the same league with King, it's shameful to borrow one's great words)

"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that.''

He claimed the negative perception of his leadership was spread by lies in opposition publications and Internet news websites. (My quote....that's absolutely wrong!)

Zambry said that despite the challenges he faced, he would continue fighting for “justice and the interest of the public”. (My quote....WHAT?!....Fighting for the wrong cause)

DAP parliamentary leader Lim Kit Siang said in a statement that Zambry’s comparison of himself to Gandhi and Mandela would cause “all round derision, outrage and revulsion.” (My quote....that's absolutely right)

“If Zambry dreams of being a Gandhi, he would not want to be an illegitimate and unlawful mentri besar even for a second,” he said. (My quote....that's absolutely right)

He said the stay given by the Court of Appeal today prevented Nizar from taking back what he claims is the PAS man’s legitimate position as MB, but did not overturn yesterday’s High Court declaration. (My quote....that's absolutely right)

“Zambry went against everything Gandhi stood for in announcing that he would again 'gate-crash' the Perak state secretariat building tomorrow to 're-occupy' the MB’s office,” he said. (My quote....that's absolutely right - see what I mean all along!)

These fanatics especially the politically motivated leaning to that ONE party will harp on any issues no matter how small to gain some mileage. And being looked at by the whole world as fools. Nothing but merely a bunch of hypocrites.

Oh yeah, Malaysians are very generous, well, in a way. You come, they welcome you. You give, they will just take. You say, they will still listen. People term this as....GIVE FACE LA. In reality, they will still reject you, giving all that you have done! So, all the sweeteners will subside and people will begin to see the real authoritarian rule, back in business.

D-Day Of Reckoning in Malaysia

I'm actually feeling somewhat uneasy seeing and hearing this man is going to be official PM to 27mils Malaysians.

I'm not saying whatever "baggage" he is carrying is troubling me but if only you watch the closing speech of this man at Umno assembly today.

He mentioned the government was taking positive steps to tackle the gloomy economy of Malaysia. That's sounds fine. Starting this year from March, April and May the government is rolling out 3 stimulus packages worth billions of ringgit covering many thousands of projects, approximately over 50 thousands 'contracts to be given' to Class F contractors. WE KNOW WHO THEY ARE!

So there will be many jobs to be filled too. Because a caring government wouldn't want its citizens to suffer being jobless. Hey, wasn't he saying "for Class F contractors"??? Normal-la right! If that's not enough to make you BLOW, take this and eat it....

"...And these Class F contractors are supporters of UMNO and Barisan Nasional".

Yeah, I accidentally turned to Astro Awani and the closing ceremony was carried 'live' in this channel - no censorship. He proudly said it and with a coy smile too, as though he had forgotten that many Malaysians NOT supporters of Umno were watching. If only the main dailies are going to print it for the public consumption. Ah-ah! I puked on my seat. Man, I was looking at our next PM. What da fcuk!

No wonder the million-dollar-question actually going around everyone's lips is how these stimulus packages worth billions of ringgit are reaching the ground. So there it goes....ordinary folks, NOT SUPPORTERS OF UMNO, first, not supporters of Barisan, second, will ACTUALLY get none, which is ZERO!!!

So, I will still go to work my ass out day in day out, thinking of what's next tomorrow, uncertain times still hovering over my head and of course care less of what our Umno-led government is going to do.

How many times we have been treated to this by our Edu Minister? How apt (ape)???

How does one set a good example to the young school children including my 11-year old kid?

Why he has to be all worked up in his speech in assembly of this kind, year in year out? Did he or did he not wave the keris (dagger) this time?

I just go bonkers like you seeing this sort of "worked up" behavior which is not necessary especially when you are the Education Minister with all the young school children looking up to you as their head.

That's why people by and large are becoming disillusioned with this government of the day, well, same goes to the bunch who make up the large portion of it from one party. It is just because they are in power does not mean they can do no wrong.

Hey mister, please behave and show good example to the young ones. We do not need a PM like this in the future!

One Down, Many Still THERE

A DPM aspirant was dropped a bombshell after running almost nearing the finishing line.

Wow, that to me is catching the big fish. But I'm not a bit moved by that. I'm sure many like me out there who cast doubt about all this fiasco. To me, so long as the term 'money politics' is used, I'm not convinced that the real effect is felt by those who are still in it. And this fella's position as CM is still very much intact. Does it hurt, NO! If one has the desire to cheat, he will cheat in any circumstances i.e. still a corrupt figure in the eyes of the general public.

If the present day government is really serious in tackling corruption, the old files should be re-open on those who got away Scot-free from all corrupt practices. MACC think again. When the boss and its next generation are the thoroughbred of this very party, corruption runs deep in the blood.

So, whether it is ACA or MACC, it makes no difference. Horse and zebra though look different visually but still are the same family! If Ali, Ah Kow or Muthu can do the job clean, they don't need to change names.

To the present-day government, don't practise double standards if you want to come clean!

The Last Time I Heard From Him...

Father, you had lots of guts. Many times you had overdone it. Nevermind. How I wished you did not on March 2nd, 2009.

But you made that decision to go for it. I never thought the last time I heard from you 'live' on that fateful morning at 7.30am was my final moment with you.

On March 4th, I lost my father. I lost a father to heart bypass surgery. He was 68. I did not want it all to end that way. He was going into the operation theater 'alive and kicking". He even got the doctor's final assurance that the op would be successful.

He wanted to live a longer life, another 15 years perhaps. He wanted to see his precious grand-daughter playing the guitar on a stage. But it all ended tragically, on the hospital bed! How I wished you did not have the guts to go for the op.

As I whispered my last words to you by your hospital bedside; as I said my last goodbye to you during the final cremation moments; I just wanted to say it again here, "Father, you are forgiven and loved dearly".

Even if he is somewhat still unsure of his real position as MB, he should be SERVING the rakyat in the first place. Why so fast want to become a hero of sort??? Don't get carried away. I read in the news that he couldn't even handle tough questions from the press. Is this how Umno-trained politicians are? Your guess is as good as mine. Serving own interest first? Yeah, rightfully so. This bloke has failed right before it starts!

Come on, let's go to the ring and fight a clean fight. Don't talk cheap and wasting resources and everybody's time. Call a fresh state election and the master of all power, the Rakyat, can decide cleanly.

Looks like MACC or formerly known as ACA is very fast to act on any wrongdoings these days. Selangor MB is next on the list. Wow! It is supposed to be called EFFICIENCY on their part but somehow I reserve this judgment! Why is that so?

Well, only the fools will not know but the right-minded people do in Malaysia. Time and again, we see this happening in Malaysia. When you are not in "there" you are not protected. And you are 'guilty as charged' even on hearsay or lack of evidence or worse still reported by the people aligned to powers that be.

So much has been said, we shall see The Fall ala Hollywood movie in the making soon? I call it BOLEH-WOOD - expect the unexpected senario.

Malaysia Is Lawless....

Malaysia is considered "lawless" (don't know what to do) when it comes to INTRUSION OF PRIVACY!

When a nude picture or video is published without the person's consent or knowledge akin to stolen property, the first backlash is always the victim. The victim has to take all the blame first and goes into seclusion. Why is that so??? A sex scandal, whether is intentional or not, kills the victim first. That is ONLY happening, when you are in the opposition party, in Malaysia in particular (or in Asia in general).

What about CORRUPTION or in Umno's word it's called Money Politics??? The culprits will get their extra time in courts or Umno court, life goes on as usual, still holding or running for positions in the party and other unusual stuff beyond your imagination that will be accorded to the culprits. Hey, do you follow? As time passes by, everything will be forgotten or "swept under the carpet".

Likewise in the case of the opposition, outside of Umno-protected territory, the victim is condemned to death fast and furious. Judgment is passed by the "moral police" aka the morally-low people in that party. Not a single word of sympathy for the victim.

And this time, the poor lady in the name of Elizabeth Wong is sadly and brutally dismissed by the moral police. Politically motivated? You hold the judgment!

Mind you, if I walk around my house naked, it is within my privacy to do so. I don't have to apologize or answer to anyone. So, GO AFTER THE CULPRIT(S), including the PUBLISHER before anything else!

And the sad story is this bunch of morons has been preaching to "change or re-invent" after losing heavily in March 08 but they are ALWAYS "cakap tak serupa bikin" (say one thing, do other thing) or like the previous PM saying, "Melayu cepat lupa" (Malays easily forget). No, it should rightfully be "Umno-melayu cepat lupa".

The very person that contributed to the losing streak for his party or rather BN, came back to his old style fearlessly, only this time he did not brandish the dagger or keris. He was shouting like a mad man just released from the cage! (Look at the pic)

Like all the right-minded people know, they are now hiding or using the royalty to gain the upper hand on Pakatan Rakyat. What a shame and a cowardice act! Way to go la morons, you can't fool the people.

Want to know who holds the upper hand, call for a fresh election, just start it with Perak state. Umno and BN will be buried 7 feet under!!!

This is something special.

For so many years, instead of the usual stuff, as we all know Chinese around the world celebrate Lunar New Year with red decors made of paper, PVC, cloth, etc. in all sorts of patterns, shapes and sizes, this one comes in really fresh and new in terms of idea and design.

In my personal opinion, I think it is uniquely, brilliantly presented to welcome the Chinese New Year. Let me just briefly describe how it works here...

* Material = Steel
* Color = Red and Gold
* Shape = Lantern with 4-letter Chinese meaningful words, hanging 4 in a row
* Method = Spinning (clockwise or anti-clockwise)
* Power = Operate by a single battery
* Extra = On spinning, reflection from its body will create natural beautiful red lighting

I got a pair hanging in my porch. My neighbors are amazed by it with usual "wahhhh" response but stop short of getting one! It's not cheap though by Malaysian standard, in general.

Well, I'm hopeful it will spin me more "good things" in the Year of Ox. A little superstitious this time.

What the heck is that? In Bahasa Malaysia (our national language) there is no such word except muatan which literally translates to 'load or goods' in English.

Perhaps the owner of the lorry wanted to tell people that he has one of a kind Mustang and the driver can do a Speedy Gonzales on the road.

Looking at the condition of the sign, one can tell that this lorry must have been around long time and thus provided much talking point to many road users in Malaysia, of course for the wrong reason.

In Malaysia, there are many government departments practically doing little work but get a handful of perks year in year out. Sometimes I don't even know what they are there for except having a job to sit on! Who cares to correct all these silly errors! Yeah, the authorities concerned will surely say, 'it is not under our jurisdiction to do that'. Doink!

I have spotted many direct translated English words in Bahasa Malaysia. The problem is some are available in Bahasa Malaysia. Now, why do they need to use translated words from English??? Is English sounding better or too good not to use?

E.g. 'gate' means 'pagar' BUT, a direct translated word and sounding similar too to English, 'get' is used at a KTM railway gate in my hometown. Pure silly. There are many, you know.

There you go, talking about protecting Bahasa Malaysia, huh!

Made In China, Alright

This is a packing material that comes with an optical mouse. The mouse itself looks pretty small and cute. It looks fine to me in terms of appearance, design, quality and price. I have no complaint using it.

However, I must add that the English used is so very bad. I'm sure you are scrambling for the meanings! But this is common by China standard.

Nevermind, everyone knows how to operate a PC mouse. But, such errors say a lot about the company or manufacturer, right?

What about if this happens in Malaysia by our English Standard? No way we could allow this sort of English to see the light. I bet anyone who starts believing this will not happen in Malaysia is ignorant to reality.

I say this because with over-emphasizing of national language i.e. Bahasa Malaysia, undecisiveness whether to continue teaching Science and Mathematics in English from primary education, it is no surprise that Malaysia English standard has dropped over the years.

To make matter worse, English is viewed as a threat to national language by some Malay educationists or so-called guardian of national language and NOT as a universal language that we must master to stay relevant to the world.

By our own admission too, most of our graduates nowadays do not speak and write English, let alone understand it. Whose making is this??? Yeah, start to blame everyone, the education system except the government.

We just hope that one day our English will not reach this lowest standard.

Yes Or No

Recently I read an article about this movie called "Yes Man" starring Jim 'The Rubber Face' Carrey, of course. My favorite comedy actor. I will catch it sooner, certainly will. Guess what intrigues is the story of how a man finds things going his way by saying 'yes' to anything and 'no means yes' to something better instead. It's based on a true story too.

What's The Story?

Carl Allen's life can be summed up in one tiny syllable: "NO." Cynical, fearful, and stubborn, Carl ducks anything that resembles opportunity, and convinces himself he's content with his comfortable rut. Then along comes a self-help guru who convinces him to turn his every "no" into a "yes." What a difference one word can make! Suddenly Carl finds himself meeting new people, trying new things, even falling in love. But like the Red Bull he's been guzzling, Carl's "yes high" seems headed for a spectacular crash.

Based on that, let's look at the most common place where people say NO most of the time - the workplace, to avoid more work of course. When I look back throughout the years in my working life, I seldom say 'no' to my bosses, means 'yes' most of the time, even to my fellow co-workers. Does that bring any good to me? I wonder. Perhaps not always. Sometimes people just don't appreciate. Then again, at that moment of time the 'feel good' factor always make me feel the right thing to do.

So, it is true when you learn to say 'yes', you cross the bridge. A huge task is completed regardless of the amount of difficulties. The moment you say 'no', everything just stops right there. The situation connected to it will be going bad. People jump on you. Suddenly you would want to turn back the clock and reverse your decision. Contrary to that, always a 'yes' can also mean you get into trouble time and again. That's why you hear the saying goes like "people just never learned from mistakes". No, people do learn from mistakes.

But how to differentiate the two - YES and NO? So, a NO could save you a life when things really gone bad. I experienced that. How apt then if I could say 'no means yes' to better things in the past! Think about it. Hmmm....

For a record, I never say NO to my boss(es). Think of NIKE - Just Do It. Do it right too. Hard to decide? Let me help you.....just consider that you are paid to do a job. That will help you make a fast decision next time you face a tricky situation with your boss. However, I do it more than that one reason. Perhaps, it's a responsibility to me.

It gives me A PEACE OF MIND! Works the magic.

Goodbye 2008, Welcome 2009

Another year is coming to an end. What a dramatic ending too if you are a Malaysian. Fellow Malaysians will know what I'm saying.

A new year, a new beginning for 2009? I guess there will be more political-motivated dramas; "gifts" from the government, politicians and racist people of sort to peace-loving Malaysians. I foresee them coming.

Not wanting to be sticky here since it is going to be my last post of 2008, I would make it short and little sweet. As I have said it before, looking back at how rowdy some morons celebrate occasion like this, I'm not gonna stay out. I'm gonna stay in and catch some great DVDs.

Last but not least, I got some new year resolutions to make too. Need to do some soul-searching of sort! To visitors of my blog, wherever you are, I WISH YOU A HAPPY NEW YEAR AND MAY YOUR WISHES COME TRUE IN 2009!

I've heard of it for ages, I know what it is like, how morons take advantage of the occasion to do something stupid. Jumping onto moving vehicles is too much, way out of the senses. Hey, look, even little kid is quick to join in the act!

Come Chinese New Year, these hooligans will even throw firecrackers at you.

So, stay at home. Better be safe than sorry.

And what morons left behind after, truck-load of rubbish!

Father "L-ansi" (Arrogant)

The meaning of 'father' among others,

Father Christianity.
1. God.
2. The first person of the Christian Trinity.
Father A church father.
(Abbr. Fr.)
1. A priest or clergyman in the Roman Catholic or Anglican churches.
2. Used as a title and form of address with or without the clergyman's name.

Let me tell you my perception of a church father or priest. HE is soft-spoken, understanding, polite, helpful, with big heart, loved by many, etc. Share my view?

OK, I had this good perception of mine all wrong when I came face to face with this father of an oldest church (over 100 years) in BM the other day. This is also the biggest church in Malaysia in terms of land size if I'm not mistaken.

After the encounter, I have only one sentence to sum him up - You Are ARROGANT, not befitting your status as a father of a church!

The whole story goes like this....

I went to the gift shop there about 10.30am, the shop assistants were very helpful indeed but told me I should see Father L because he was in-charge for all things. So, that left me with only one choice, no other. I was also told to speak to his secretary in case father was not around. And, he was indeed not around. I asked his secretary where was father and what time he would be in.... I was told that "he went upstairs but don't know what time he will be down. Usually father will be in the office around 9.00am". OK, I went off and politely told the secretary that I would be back tomorrow morning.

The next morning....I went to the office at around 9.00 in the morning. Father was not in sight and the secretary office was closed. Then I decided to drive my car up near the office location instead of walking up from far down again, also to pass a little time.

While alighting from my car, out of sudden a Chinese man in Bermuda shorts and T-shirt walked out from that area with an Indian man (well attired but casual) toward a car parked beside mine.

The conversation went like this....

Chinese man: What are you looking for?
Me: I'm looking for Father L (surname withheld)
Chinese man: Where are you from?
Me: BM (meaning Bukit Mertajam)
Chinese man: (Looking bemused but not saying a word)
Me: Are you Father L? (his facial expression indicating he is)
Chinese man: You don't know who is father L?
Me: (Taken aback by his reply - sounding rude)
Chinese man (Father L): What do you want?
Me: I have some X'mas decors....(not given a second to finish my sentence)
Chinese man (Father L): Don't want! (walked to the passenger side of a black Honda Accord)
Me: Thank you.
Indian man: (Looking surprised with the way Father L impolitely brushed me off but still managed to put on a smiling face, for me I guess, as though being apologetic)
Me: (I got into my car, reversed, waved goodbye & thank you to both of them and drove off feeling....)

My feelings....after the incident, well, very bad impression indeed of this Father L especially! Occasionally I go to this church to pray though I'm not a Christian. I shall forgive and forget about the whole bad experience with a father of this church.

Now, I really know who Father L is from this church in Bukit Mertajam. You have to answer to God for your lansi (arrogant) actions, f-a-t-h-e-r!

Sales Gimmick

See the picture, it all started like this....

One evening, I flipped the newspaper and saw an advert with some interesting electronic stuff on sale.

This is almost everyday's thing given the season-end is just around the corner. Moreover with business looking sluggish for many, the economy not looking rosy, what a good time and better way to increase business. OK, fine, there is nothing wrong. The consumers will benefit.

So happened I was really looking forward to changing my DVD player. When you use a non-branded one, don't expect too much from it e.g. last longer. After all, stuff like this is pretty cheap nowadays. And off I went the next morning to inquire my new DVD player. Following my instinct, I went to check the advert that I saw last night - circled. Pretty interesting. In fact, I went to three branches, two shown above.

First one, I was told the' Crazy Bargain, Storewide Sale' did not apply to that particular branch - not included in the advert too. OK, off I went to another branch, another place.

Second one, yeah they had it. I was quite ecstatic. Why was I anyway given the fact that DVD players were dirt cheap nowadays? The fact that I could get a bargain price for a "branded" (as advertised) DVD player made me 'a little naive' in a way. With 2 years FREE warranty thrown in, who wouldn't be happy....until reality set in.

Third one, I went there and they too provided me a China-brand, different from my phone inquiry earlier in the day (when I was at the 2nd branch). They must have communicated.

What you see is what you don't get!!! Let me list down what's my problem with this company at the 2nd branch,

1. It's a China-brand, though popular in a way but I was expecting an established brand to be called "branded". Was my expectation too high??? Hmmmm.

2. When I asked for a branded-as-advertised one, the sales person gave me a brand that retailed at RM145.00. If that was the case, then after "saving" RM80.00, the price I supposed to pay should be RM65.00. But hell NO. He also got the cheek to tell me that the RM199.00 set no longer in stock!!! No stock in the first day? This guy was kidding me.

3. Then I insisted the sales person called the BM branch (3rd one) to check; I called to check a couple minutes earlier. That branch gave me a contradict answer but was what I wanted to hear. However, the sales person came back to me and told me the China-brand was the correct one!

4. I said "if that was the case, why this China-brand did not have the karaoke-jack (function) as advertised?". He was totally blurred, got himself twisted.

5. To press on, I further asked him how did the '2-Year FREE Warranty' apply to this set and he again made himself looked like a fool (what a pity) by saying, "actually it's only 1st year and for 2nd year needed to pay extra or join membership". Huh, FREE means what??? You guess.

Points raised. Would you feel cheated in this scenario? I bet you do. I did! So, I walked out in disgust and shortly called up their HQ in Penang to file a complaint and followed up with an email. I got a verbal and written apology and explanation in the end.

But that's no my point here. I just felt cheated and wasting my time with such sales gimmick going around. Worse still, many established companies are doing this. Who are we to complain to, what action can be taken, who is monitoring this....the known grouses go on and on. I know many have fallen victims to this so-called 'SALE' in many forms.

Like the saying goes....Malaysia has many laws but the implementation is weak and sometimes the interpretation is overzealous. Third-world mentality it is. So, many consumers don't bother to complain, thus suffer in silence.

As for me, I speak up and stand up for my rights as a consumer. I'm a happy customer to a LG DVD player now. How much did I pay - RM245 with an additional HDMI cable. Where did I buy - Jusco, BM. I got what I wanted and happy paying a little bit more.

The next time you face this tricky situation, ask questions as a consumer. Don't take everything (sweet words) thrown-in in adverts. It'll be a sad story if you do.

Table Talks

Today was just another Saturday for me and my spouse. As usual, we would do our "marketing" (go to pasar or wet market) for the week. And I completely forgot about a wedding dinner of a friend of almost 10 years.

My conversation with my spouse was centered on something else. Somehow this friend of mine had something in common with our topic of discussion. And immediately I got jolted off my seat about a dinner invitation. He called me back after receiving my SMS by saying the very evening was that actual dinner date. Call it a coincidence but I think it is more of 'divine intervention'. God does watch over us and intervene!

So, the evening started like any other wedding dinner although my friend was an Indian and married a Chinese girl. Seated with my spouse and kiddo were some senior Indian and Chinese couples. Guess what, as soon as the "ice was broken", the whole table talks went into political reality of Malaysia today.

How policies of national interest were created, changed and manipulated to become lopsided, biased and unfair to the other races. How cases or wrongdoings involving politicians of a ruling party and powers that be are brushed off as non-relevant or swept aside or judged with hidden hand. Evidence or even SD is nothing. However, simple issues involving politicians from the "other side" are fast-tracked with investigations as good as being prejudged with guilt.

At times, everyone at the table got so worked up just by thinking of what could have been if Malaysia were governed properly and with good leadership. What have become of Malaysia nowadays compare to the 70's or early 80's?

Today, we cannot see eye to eye in many things, racial issues are cooked up for nothing, we cannot do this and that, either classified as sensitive or pure ignorant, ignoring the fact that Malaysians too want FREEDOM to choose and decide. Today, we have many lopsided policies being put into practice thus creating more dissatisfaction and hatred amongst Malaysians.

Who is to be blamed??? The very person who ruled with iron fist for 22 years did the damage somehow. Credited with bringing Malaysia up to what she is today, national policies could have been dealt with better if not best.

Breeding greed will ruin one's empire. The future certainly looks bleak if not corrected immediately. FAIRPLAY does not necessarily sidelining the other. Not even want a silver spoon.

Is that too much to ask for?

Do you know what it is in this picture? Yeah, it's a brain. Everybody has one.

But, a big BUT here, some people just forget to use it properly or rather not use it at all! When someone's brain is not utilized properly, you get into all sort of troubles with him or them.

To me, these people who do not utilize their brains, I call them ASSHOLES. They can talk like one or act like one. Worse still, some are "given" authority to become one. To these assholes, bear in mind, this is internet-age.

Those who call themselves top leaders of Malaysia from a ruling party say nothing, seem to condone such stupid acts. I think all these people ought to be sent back to school to learn the basics. But then again, nowadays our education standard is too low, can't help either!

Now, what am I talking about or referring to or mad about these people I call ASSHOLES??? Look at the roadsign that has alternative language to give foreign visitors easy reference when they come to our shores. The name in national language i.e. Bahasa Malaysia is still very much visible (bigger too).

What more, a certain parts of Penang (i.e. surrounding Georgetown) have been listed as heritage sites which will make roadsigns with alternative language(s) even more useful. The world may want to know more about Penang. If the original name can be retained, certainly it is more meaningful to the foreign visitors.

Back to what I am mad about....just by having extra language on the roadsigns, CAN THE STATUS OF OUR NATIONAL LANGUAGE i.e. BAHASA MALAYSIA BE THREATENED??? That is exactly what the assholes think it will!

Can our children grow up without knowing Bahasa Malaysia? Can I benumbed and totally not able to speak a word of Bahasa Malaysia? The questions to those assholes continue....

It is completely stupid to think that the very status of a language can be eroded by a simple but noble way of adding another language to it. What sort of message are they telling the world - that Malaysians are "living on trees"?

Hey, even though I did not learn a word of Mandarin in school, somehow I still able to 'speak' Mandarin quite fluently now. I'm proud to be able to speak THREE languages but I'm still very Malaysian! Not even a part of me has changed.

To the assholes, if your children become one of the jobless graduates one day, don't blame this and that but your own doing, lousy system and outdated thinking. As the Malay saying goes - like the "frog under the coconut shell" people. By championing the wrong cause will lead to nothing. And don't deprive of others the opportunity.

English is still and will be the international language. More people in the world are also learning Mandarin now! The latter is touted to be the second language of the world in another decade or so.

A Basket-fool of ... A's

I can't agree more with an article published in the Star paper today. It's all about the 'quantity' of A's scored in exams.

Year in year out, Malaysia students make headlines, getting attention from the media of how many A's they have scored in exams, three times a year, at least. Why three times a year because we have UPSR for the Primary Six, PMR for Sec 3 and SPM for Sec 5 ('O' Level). If A's are used purely to judge a student's ability or intelligence, I have no doubt it is not a true reflection at all given Malaysia low standard education system.

What is the passing marks for scoring A's? Are they vary for every different subject? E.g. English, Science, Math compare to the "extra" non-relevant subjects such as foreign language or religious studies. I say this because it has not been proven how it is done or worse still the way it is done has not been made transparent. Help me to understand if you know.

It makes me wonder....every year students are getting more A's than the last, ballooning up to 18, 19, 20 and it is counting in SPM!!! How is that possible? 21 As means 21 subjects! It is certainly a shocker to me and also sounds STUPID.

My father could read and write Mandarin, English and Bahasa Malaysia but only educated till LCE level - those days. Today, you got students with A's that can fill up a basket at SPM level ('O' Level) BUT cannot phrase a proper sentence in English. Don't ask these high scorers to speak English because your funny bone might be tickled pink! Know what I'm sayin'.

Thanks and no thanks to our education system, policies makers, dumb politicians, overzealous national language guardians, etc. Whatever you call these people - they really fit the tag 'dumb and dumber' anyway. I would bet they may not even let their children finish education here - most end up overseas!

Come on, what is the relevancy of such many A's??? Isn't it quality counts over quantity at the end of the day? What counts is your spot-on ability to impress your interviewers. E.g. if one can speak good English, use correct tenses or grammars, phrase a complete sentence that your listeners can understand, it says a lot even without the many A's. Some can't even do a simple math calculation but call himself a degree holder. Huh!

If we don't practise matriculation and continue to harp on QUOTA i.e. reserved places for the Malays, it is futile to score a basket-fool of A's for show. If we don't allow competition, let the best compete with the best, it is meaningless. If we keep on flip-flopping our education system, worse still back-tracking it, changing it at whim and fancy, what future does our children have? What kind of future leaders does our country want to produce, etc.?

My Moment With CM

A couple weeks ago I was called upon to attend a dinner function of an association which my employer was a member. As usual in a Chinese-style function time is always a problem to meet. Know what I'm sayin' - the invitation card may states 7.00pm but the guests only trickled in an hour late or 8.30pm to full house.

I say 'late' because a dinner function is like another important appointment, you just got to be punctual. 10 minutes late for a dinner function could be excusable. But always people will take their own sweet time coming to a dinner function. It's a matter of respecting the host or organizer la. So be punctual next time as though you are meeting someone important i.e. your darling or sweetheart!

OK, the dinner went on as usual, nothing much "unusual", looking around I spotted some people are taking such opportunity to walk around "to be seen" and or course many just want to "look-see look-see" for beautiful species. There were also some people like to chat their lungs out, even at a distance you could hear them talking about "yesterday night good times".

An hour later, came our honorable guest - Penang CM Lim Guan Eng. He got a standing ovation, alright. I was proud to see him too, just being at the same venue. Is he anything special? Hmmm, not really. The fact is HE IS LIKEABLE WITH A BOY-NEXT-DOOR- IMAGE THAT STRIKES MANY IN THE HEART. He looks so simple and humble as a person - portraying that kind of 'no air' (lan si) image.

Yeah he was busy indeed that week and what more just came back from overseas trip to Korea and came straight to this function upon touching down in Penang on that day. So, my moment was standing on stage with him, supposedly receiving a recognition momento from him but no, anyway shook his hand and took a couple group photos that were published in various mainstream Chinese media. Check out Penang CM, fourth from right. And me, I was "somewhere" on the right side.

Now, how a person endears himself to people by and large is really a 'natural' skill of sort, not taught in school. The way one speaks, reacts, portrays own image, etc. especially as a public figure is self-taught as far as I'm concern. During his speech he was as usual calm and gentlemanly, however, couldn't resist taking a swipe at the federal garmen's many decisions. Everybody had a good laugh....

Example, Penang state government is going ahead to implement a FREE WiFi service to Penang (of course a chunk of the cost is to be borne by sponsors) BUT our federal garmen of the day is going to spend "billions" to go wireless. Yeah right, millions are too small a sum nowadays! Think again!!!

Penang Gerakan, the sunset political party, made so much noise when Penang CM led a group of 50 to Korea on business trip - in fact they were barking at the wrong tree! But a worthless agricultural trip to Taiwan recently was not sounded. Classic example there.

Lastly, to all the politicians who are always talking about going to the grassroots, please learn a thing or two from CM Lim first. His guanxi (relationship) with Penang people is building up momentum - very good indeed.

Astronaut, Made In Bolehland

So we have one who went up there, did what he only knew what he did, came back a hero of sort, got a Datukship (a title, as usual given away like nobody business), go around trying to inspire school children (if not how his paymaster is going to justify the money spent), of course getting paid handsomely too (a figure that we only knew lately, plus hidden perks, maybe), etc.

His father gave a flip-flop statement the other day. Is he or is he not making millions from giving talks? So actually did he charge for every so-called inspiring talks or given FREE? Or free to the organizers but getting paid extra by his paymaster using taxpayers' fund? When something is hidden, it smells fishy. Simple.

A problem starts when Malaysians are deprived of the truth - where money is simply spent excessively. Everyone knows how it is done in Malaysia by the powers that be when it come to matters "concerning the public interest" i.e. do it quietly. Shhhhhhh! When the secret is broken to publicly, usually it takes two weeks for someone at the top to cook up a bullshit (reason) to quash the whole issue, like now.

This fellow has been going round giving talks in the country ever since he "landed" back on earth. And only today his wall cracks amid controversy. Perhaps it is not his entire doing. You bet. You know how good some people in that particular political party exploit cheap publicity either for the party or individuals with personal agenda.

What about hiring a driver and bodyguard??? Can he not drive himself? Is Malaysia so unsafe, needed to go around with bodyguard? Now there is someone indirectly admitted, huh, that Malaysia is unsafe! I thought only in Chow Kit and JB areas!!!

Is he kidding me that he pays the driver and bodyguard out of his RM5000.oo salary? Money is no issue to the garmen what!!! EPF got so much money inside, just sign a RM5,000,000,000.00 cheque also can. Am I getting my digits correct for billion?

In a Batman movie you can afford a Joker to run the show. In Malaysia, Malaysians do not need joker(s) to run the country.

So RPK is finally a free man. And what's next?

What??? The garmen is going to appeal against his release? So, it's like if you can appeal, I also can appeal huh! In the first place there was no case whatsoever. What happened was a mess cooked up by the powers that be or rather that most idiotic YB in the country, ever produced. Damn.

And as though making statements that irk most Malaysians is not enough, he took to the street yesterday, a place supposed to be the-most-notorious, the-most-dirty with contagious diseases just to be photographed and to prove his earlier statement in parliament was misquoted.

So, the police beat base was closed because the owner took back the building. It took him so long to cook up another bullshit. What about the street since he took a walk with so much security in tow, did he find any contagious diseases??? Anymore bullshit? So, no reason given but again people misquoted him? Damn.

Next, RPK should take action against that YB for wrongfully signed his detention paper. Otherwise many more monkeys like him will simply do as what they like. It's the rule of law too that people sue them back ala YB Teresa.

RPK, I just wanted to congratulate you for your release. You have got back your freedom. Don't stop till they drop!

If there is anyone out there who still doubts that America is a place where all things are possible; who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time; who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer.
It’s the answer told by lines that stretched around schools and churches in numbers this nation has never seen; by people who waited three hours and four hours, many for the very first time in their lives, because they believed that this time must be different; that their voice could be that difference.
It’s the answer spoken by young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Latino, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled – Americans who sent a message to the world that we have never been a collection of Red States and Blue States: we are, and always will be, the United States of America.
It’s the answer that led those who have been told for so long by so many to be cynical, and fearful, and doubtful of what we can achieve to put their hands on the arc of history and bend it once more toward the hope of a better day.
It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America.
I just received a very gracious call from Senator McCain. He fought long and hard in this campaign, and he’s fought even longer and harder for the country he loves. He has endured sacrifices for America that most of us cannot begin to imagine, and we are better off for the service rendered by this brave and selfless leader. I congratulate him and Governor Palin for all they have achieved, and I look forward to working with them to renew this nation’s promise in the months ahead.
I want to thank my partner in this journey, a man who campaigned from his heart and spoke for the men and women he grew up with on the streets of Scranton and rode with on that train home to Delaware, the Vice President-elect of the United States, Joe Biden.
I would not be standing here tonight without the unyielding support of my best friend for the last sixteen years, the rock of our family and the love of my life, our nation’s next First Lady, Michelle Obama. Sasha and Malia, I love you both so much, and you have earned the new puppy that’s coming with us to the White House. And while she’s no longer with us, I know my grandmother is watching, along with the family that made me who I am. I miss them tonight, and know that my debt to them is beyond measure.
To my campaign manager David Plouffe, my chief strategist David Axelrod, and the best campaign team ever assembled in the history of politics – you made this happen, and I am forever grateful for what you’ve sacrificed to get it done.
But above all, I will never forget who this victory truly belongs to – it belongs to you.
I was never the likeliest candidate for this office. We didn’t start with much money or many endorsements. Our campaign was not hatched in the halls of Washington – it began in the backyards of Des Moines and the living rooms of Concord and the front porches of Charleston.
It was built by working men and women who dug into what little savings they had to give five dollars and ten dollars and twenty dollars to this cause. It grew strength from the young people who rejected the myth of their generation’s apathy; who left their homes and their families for jobs that offered little pay and less sleep; from the not-so-young people who braved the bitter cold and scorching heat to knock on the doors of perfect strangers; from the millions of Americans who volunteered, and organized, and proved that more than two centuries later, a government of the people, by the people and for the people has not perished from this Earth. This is your victory.
I know you didn’t do this just to win an election and I know you didn’t do it for me. You did it because you understand the enormity of the task that lies ahead. For even as we celebrate tonight, we know the challenges that tomorrow will bring are the greatest of our lifetime – two wars, a planet in peril, the worst financial crisis in a century. Even as we stand here tonight, we know there are brave Americans waking up in the deserts of Iraq and the mountains of Afghanistan to risk their lives for us. There are mothers and fathers who will lie awake after their children fall asleep and wonder how they’ll make the mortgage, or pay their doctor’s bills, or save enough for college. There is new energy to harness and new jobs to be created; new schools to build and threats to meet and alliances to repair.
The road ahead will be long. Our climb will be steep. We may not get there in one year or even one term, but America – I have never been more hopeful than I am tonight that we will get there. I promise you – we as a people will get there.
There will be setbacks and false starts. There are many who won’t agree with every decision or policy I make as President, and we know that government can’t solve every problem. But I will always be honest with you about the challenges we face. I will listen to you, especially when we disagree. And above all, I will ask you join in the work of remaking this nation the only way it’s been done in America for two-hundred and twenty-one years – block by block, brick by brick, calloused hand by calloused hand.
What began twenty-one months ago in the depths of winter must not end on this autumn night. This victory alone is not the change we seek – it is only the chance for us to make that change. And that cannot happen if we go back to the way things were. It cannot happen without you.
So let us summon a new spirit of patriotism; of service and responsibility where each of us resolves to pitch in and work harder and look after not only ourselves, but each other. Let us remember that if this financial crisis taught us anything, it’s that we cannot have a thriving Wall Street while Main Street suffers – in this country, we rise or fall as one nation; as one people.
Let us resist the temptation to fall back on the same partisanship and pettiness and immaturity that has poisoned our politics for so long. Let us remember that it was a man from this state who first carried the banner of the Republican Party to the White House – a party founded on the values of self-reliance, individual liberty, and national unity. Those are values we all share, and while the Democratic Party has won a great victory tonight, we do so with a measure of humility and determination to heal the divides that have held back our progress. As Lincoln said to a nation far more divided than ours, “We are not enemies, but friends…though passion may have strained it must not break our bonds of affection.” And to those Americans whose support I have yet to earn – I may not have won your vote, but I hear your voices, I need your help, and I will be your President too.
And to all those watching tonight from beyond our shores, from parliaments and palaces to those who are huddled around radios in the forgotten corners of our world – our stories are singular, but our destiny is shared, and a new dawn of American leadership is at hand. To those who would tear this world down – we will defeat you. To those who seek peace and security – we support you. And to all those who have wondered if America’s beacon still burns as bright – tonight we proved once more that the true strength of our nation comes not from our the might of our arms or the scale of our wealth, but from the enduring power of our ideals: democracy, liberty, opportunity, and unyielding hope.
For that is the true genius of America – that America can change. Our union can be perfected. And what we have already achieved gives us hope for what we can and must achieve tomorrow.
This election had many firsts and many stories that will be told for generations. But one that’s on my mind tonight is about a woman who cast her ballot in Atlanta. She’s a lot like the millions of others who stood in line to make their voice heard in this election except for one thing – Ann Nixon Cooper is 106 years old.
She was born just a generation past slavery; a time when there were no cars on the road or planes in the sky; when someone like her couldn’t vote for two reasons – because she was a woman and because of the color of her skin.
And tonight, I think about all that she’s seen throughout her century in America – the heartache and the hope; the struggle and the progress; the times we were told that we can’t, and the people who pressed on with that American creed: Yes we can.
At a time when women’s voices were silenced and their hopes dismissed, she lived to see them stand up and speak out and reach for the ballot. Yes we can.
When there was despair in the dust bowl and depression across the land, she saw a nation conquer fear itself with a New Deal, new jobs and a new sense of common purpose. Yes we can.
When the bombs fell on our harbor and tyranny threatened the world, she was there to witness a generation rise to greatness and a democracy was saved. Yes we can.
She was there for the buses in Montgomery, the hoses in Birmingham, a bridge in Selma, and a preacher from Atlanta who told a people that “We Shall Overcome.” Yes we can.
A man touched down on the moon, a wall came down in Berlin, a world was connected by our own science and imagination. And this year, in this election, she touched her finger to a screen, and cast her vote, because after 106 years in America, through the best of times and the darkest of hours, she knows how America can change. Yes we can.
America, we have come so far. We have seen so much. But there is so much more to do. So tonight, let us ask ourselves – if our children should live to see the next century; if my daughters should be so lucky to live as long as Ann Nixon Cooper, what change will they see? What progress will we have made?
This is our chance to answer that call. This is our moment. This is our time – to put our people back to work and open doors of opportunity for our kids; to restore prosperity and promote the cause of peace; to reclaim the American Dream and reaffirm that fundamental truth – that out of many, we are one; that while we breathe, we hope, and where we are met with cynicism, and doubt, and those who tell us that we can’t, we will respond with that timeless creed that sums up the spirit of a people:

Barack Obama, a 47-year-old first-term senator from Illinois, shattered more than 200 years of history Tuesday night by winning election as the first African-American president of the United States.

“If there is anyone out there who doubts that America is a place where anything is possible, who still wonders if the dream of our founders is alive in our time, who still questions the power of our democracy, tonight is your answer,” Obama declared.

“Young and old, rich and poor, Democrat and Republican, black, white, Hispanic, Asian, Native American, gay, straight, disabled and not disabled, Americans have sent a message to the world that we have never been just a collection of red states and blue states,” he said. “We have been and always will be the United States of America.

“It’s been a long time coming, but tonight, because of what we did on this day, in this election, at this defining moment, change has come to America,” he said to a long roar.

There is a real lesson to be learned from this historical election in America, coupled with the victory for the first African-American to become president of USA. True to his victory speech, America has been a place, a country where every dream is possible, never a doubt. Americans have decided and chosen their first black president. Aren't there more whites than black in America? How is that possible??? The above picture speaks a thousand words. All the white hands going up, cheering and signifying acceptance of a black president.

Obviously racism has been done with or kept to a distance. Millions of Americans have put on their thinking cap, decided the very best candidate wins. Their belief that the best candidate will lead America shows many countries in the world are still lacking in this mentality. There are no worries of any one race may be sidelined because there is none to worry about. Everyone, as a citizen in America is an American, deserves what is rightfully his or hers. It is as simple as that.

Just read excerpts from BO's victory speech above. This man really got the world sit up and in awe of his becoming the first of many historic moments in America and most of all moving into White House (as the joke goes...meant for white people only!) come Jan 20, 2009.

Valuecap Debt - 1001 Questions

KUALA LUMPUR, Nov 3 — State investment company Valuecap Sdn Bhd owes its three shareholders RM5.1 billion, which is due to be repaid in February 2009.

This debt, in the form of interest-bearing unsecured bonds, raises questions over plans for the Employees Provident Fund to lend RM5 billion to Valuecap to invest in the stock market.

In March 2003, Valuecap borrowed RM5.1 billion from shareholders Khazanah, Kumpulan Wang Amanah Pencen and Permodalan Nasional Bhd to invest in the stock market. At the time, world stock markets were bracing for a looming war in Iraq which followed on the September 2001 attacks on the US.

Valuecap’s bonds were due to be repaid in February 2006, but the company was given another three years to this coming February. At the end of 2006, the three shareholders each held RM1.7 billion in these bonds, according to documents obtained by The Malaysian Insider.

Since these debt instruments were not listed and are not tradeable, the three shareholders are probably still holding these bonds today.

Recently, the government proposed that EPF lend Valuecap RM5 billion to invest in the stock market. In view of its impending obligation to repay its shareholders, however, questions arise over whether the loaned funds will be used to redeem the bonds.

As at the end of 2006, Valuecap’s investments were valued at RM4.8 billion. Since then, the stock market has lost 21 per cent of its value. If Valuecap’s investments have tracked the stock market, these could be worth RM3.8 billion currently.

Valuecap may have managed to unwind some of its positions when it launched a RM840 million Islamic investment fund earlier this year. Called myETF Dow Jones Islamic Market Malaysia Titans 25, the fund is managed by a wholly-owned subsidiary, iVCAP Management Sdn Bhd.

At the end of October, the fund's value was 41 per cent lower than at its launch in January this year.

Market observers have speculated that this was Valuecap’s version of Hong Kong’s Tracker Fund, which the Hong Kong government launched in 1999 to unwind US$15 billion (RM52.5 billion) worth of stock positions accumulated during the 1997 Asian financial crisis. The fund concluded the disposals of almost the shares by the end of 2002.

Current market conditions make it difficult, if not impossible, for Valuecap to unwind its positions.

If it is unable to sell its stock market investments, it may repay its shareholders in kind, transferring its share portfolio to them instead of coughing up cash.

If it did so, the EPF loan would provide fresh cash to make new investments. If its shareholders require to be repaid in cash, however, Valuecap may need the cash infusion from EPF.

The company has been servicing the interest on the debt. It has also established a sinking fund to set aside funds to repay the debt. As at December 2006, the sinking fund stood at roughly RM780 million, and it held RM1.7 billion in cash and deposits.

We really got screwed "deep, deep" with our hard-earned savings!!!

A True Blue Leader

I have said it before in my blog and I would have no second thought now that my negative perception of our next leaders in line have never changed. Full stop.

These people from Umno will never going to be Malaysian leader. Yeah, alright they can, "by automatic" (if you understand how Malaysia PM is chosen) be leader of Malaysia. But not Malaysian leader by and large. The neutral Malaysians will agree that they are "fighting" for self-glory and to stay relevant. And by doing so, they will always play up populist or rather racial statements or remarks in disguise. They know, they are not going to win any support from other races and devil may care so long as they remain strong within the inner circle of Umno. As a whole, Malaysia political scene is one hell of a circus - not relevant to present times anymore.

A true blue Malaysian leader, is there one with credentials? I think there is! But it is very unfortunate that he is not a commoner and he has to remain apolitical in politics. Need not elaborate....a true blue Malaysian leader is none other than Raja Nazrin Shah. If any politician who aspires to lead Malaysia, and stay relevant to all Malaysians, NOT only to a particular race, HE should emulate Raja Nazrin Shah, lead by example, make speeches like him, etc.

Raja Nazrin: Governments must not discriminate

KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 30 - The Raja Muda of Perak Raja Nazrin Shah said today that governments should not set down discriminatory laws or policies but must ensure inclusive development through empowerment.

"No segment of society must be disrespected, discredited and disenfranchised," he said in his address at the 21st LawAsia Conference here.
He said that no single group in any country should feel their contributions are unrecognized or unwanted.

While the Perak Raja Muda did not specify what laws or which countries he was referring to, his remarks comes amid a roiling debate over the country's "social contract" and the government's pro-Bumiputera affirmative action policies.

His advice also comes on the heels of the recent statement by the Rulers Council calling on all parties to stop questioning the social contract between Malays and non-Malays as it would cause unease.

In his speech today, Raja Nazrin called for the abandonment of what he called "the silo mentality where we only look up at what is happening and not beside us at what others are experiencing."
He made a case instead for policies which empower through inclusiveness.

"Only with inclusive development through empowerment can societies become strong," he said.
The lack of empowerment, he said, would lead to a sense of alienation and hostility that could result in "rash acts of violence."
"We cannot morally turn our backs on the fundamental responsibility of ensuring that all stakeholders in our society, no matter how small or seemingly insignificant, have a place under the sun."

Among the prerequisites cited by Raja Nazrin for empowerment was for governments to strengthen the rule of law and to ensure greater political participation for citizens as stakeholders.

"It is only when citizens are also stakeholders will there be the widest sense of ownership of problems and challenges," he said.

What more can I say, the politicians who make a mockery of Malaysia politics should be ashamed. The "aspirants" fighting to be what-they-are-not, should be ashamed too. Anyone who cannot come "clean" and still wanting to to be up there, should be most ashamed. Heed the majority, the majority does not come within one political party, the majority is us, the rakyat (citizens of Malaysia).

Somehow, US Presidential Election is very interesting though! A non-white leading a country of 250plus millions??? Even his name doesn't sound "white". History is surely being made!

Scrap Metal

It has happened. It has been reported. It has even been published. What is the action taken? Hey, the manace is "mushrooming".

Thanks and no thanks to the "easily available avenues" to sell the stolen scrap metals. If one just take a casual drive around Prai Industrial area, there are many missing manhole covers right in the middle of the roads, switchboards for street lightings without front and back panels/doors, railings for monsoon drains partially gone and anything that is metal or copper will not be spared. Why are these people so daring?

It has been published recently about how Sbg. Jaya area was stripped off the manhole covers in almost every available piece. Thus endangering the lives of the people moving around there. What is the action taken? The question remains unanswered as far as I know.

Let me tell you....firstly they have not been caught, none that I know or read from the media. Secondly, it is so easy to sell the stolen scraps! There are many of such scrap shops around. Thirdly, if one can buy the stolen scraps at a bargain price, why not.

The way I look at it, the fault lies in the hand of the authorities. These people are very bad in controlling and fast in issuing licenses. Poor management. Knowing very well of how the tidak apa attitude works within the authorities, the unscrupulous Malaysians are fast and good at exploiting the loopholes - always!

There is no concerted effort at all to control this business i.e. the issuing of licenses to the scrap dealers/shops, checking the source that these dealers buy, the scraps that they keep in their backyards, the stern penalty of breaking the law i.e. buying stolen items, etc. I would not like to think a stolen manhole cover is considered petty crime!

I would say, from my point of view, they the authorities have no clue in nabbing the "big time thieves" that got away so easily. Because they are considered petty - no way! Now, if it is not easy to track the thieves, can't they carry out spot-check on the scrap dealers? I'm of the opinion that these stolen scraps are sold immediately to the dealers to make fast money. My other question is - who is supposed to act on this issue, seriously? In the meantime, while the responsibility is still being questioned, more public properties will go missing or are being stolen day in day out.

The consequences, more lives are endangered each day and public funds being wasted in replacing the stolen ones. Malaysia boleh!

Home Cooked Food

Recently I have setup a new blog called homecookmeal.blogspot.com to showcase some of the simple cooking that one can whip up at home. I'm blessed that I get to enjoy such "privilege" at home. I'm not the cook - my other half is.

However, more often than not, as it happens to most of my colleagues or friends, they have to eat out because nobody cooks at home. Most of the working women don't cook nowadays. Either they are not good at it or too tired after a hard day at work. I think I'm quite right with the former. Of course if you are still staying with your mom or mother-in-law, it's a relief! Otherwise you just have to eat out.

I can tell you, eating out is no fun. Unless you are wealthy enough to go to fancy restaurants always. What is no fun to me is something which I have no control over it. It is all about eating healthy food. I'm not complaining about the taste yet. Imagine the lowest grade of cooking oil used, amount of mono sodium glutamate used (at times I felt very dry in my throat after eating out), unhygienic food preparing method, etc. As the saying goes, what you don't see will go down well with your stomach.

I have had compliments all over from my friends that I'm lucky to have home-cooked food as and when I desire. Yeah, I have no complaint but praises for my other half. All the daily food that I eat outside during the day at work I can find them better, miles better at home!!! And of course we have control of what's going into a dish i.e. healthy food.

Cooking is not something extraordinary that many people tend to find it difficult. Same as you what do in life - one has to be passionate and a little bit on the creative side to do it right. Cooking is something you create out of nothing. You can always refer to a cook book though. The right combination of ingredients is very important. It is even simpler to cook a home-cooked meal. Just balance the taste of a dish and you are done.

Well, it is easier said than done, one may argue. Guess I'm just going to accept the fact that....YES I'M A LUCKY MAN. My spouse can cook!

The just concluded MCA election has given new hopes to the Chinese community. What? Am I wrong to say that?

The new team is seen as being outspoken and never hesitate to cross the line. How's that? Yeah, the new MCA No.1 & 2 do have the history of being "nasty". If they were going to bring the brash attitude into BN i.e. being outspoken, I think they would meet their match in the likes of Umno ultras.

I was quite surprised that there was not much of hoo-hah following the very brash speech by the former MCA President. The next morning I did not see any headlines in the Star (maybe in Utusan) with the usual backlash by Umno ultras. But there was one Shah-rir though denying Umno was a bully in BN. Maybe he didn't get the true meaning from the speech.

Bully? Well, let me put it more street-like manner about its meaning. When one acts like a taiko (big brother), he doesn't need to give advance notice or consult the other fellows in the group when making decisions. He sees himself as already superior than the others, so why should he seek a second opinion then. However, if he is not officially 'elected' as a taiko but still exerting his superiority over the others, that is TANTAMOUNT TO BULLYING! Simple as that.

That one reaction from Shah-rir is a clear sign or just the tip of the iceberg. You bet, out there are many more ultras waiting to retaliate. Perhaps, they are jostling for positions in their up and coming election and not wanting to jeopardize their own chances.

As I see it, MCA will be in for a hard time going head to head with the self-elected taiko in BN. We have seen it before, most of the time, they go for 'shoot before look' the moment you are deemed crossing the "demarcation line".

Where does MCA go from here? We shall see!

Jokers - Made In Malaysia

Like I said in my previous posting recently; I wouldn't give a damn of who is leading Malaysia comes next March. There is no change unless they are changed!

True to what I have said, where is the quality especially those bunch who are jostling for top positions and aiming high to be ministers? There is no pride at all, just taking it for granted. Anyone not knowing what our Hamid had replied in written form to parliament yesterday? Eat this....

A question was asked about the closing down of a police beat base in Chow Kit area. Our Hamid's answer was the reason being Chow Kit area was so notorious and posed a safety threat to the policemen, obviously for manning the beat base there, so it got to be closed down!!! He even went further by saying the area was also so very dirty (with contagious diseases) that would be a health hazard to the policemen stationed there!!! So, off they packed up and fled....!

Police running scared? Transmissible diseases by direct or indirect contact? What??? What struck me in the head was (I believe for everyone of you too) if the police were running scared of the notorious criminals, the public would have been buried six-feet under by now! Who is supposed to safeguard the safety of the public? Isn't it only right for the police to be where the criminals are???

A Home Minister giving such statement in Parliament is certainly making a mockery of being elected by us. Malaysia will be back-paddling further with ministers keep on giving illogical statements in public and parliament. It is a laughing matter to most but our senses tell us that how on earth can we have such minister(s) whereby the majority of us can do better. Imagine such lawmakers making decisions in Parliament for us but they are not much better than us!

Today a couple Hindraf supporters are called up to give police statements. Reason, for showing up at cabinet Raya open house with "special ISA message" to the PM. How's that?

Well, as widely reported and circulated on the net especially, just days after fresh allegations surfaced on a jailed blogger's website Malaysia Today over alleged interference in a murder investigations, more claims have surfaced on the same website over allegedly shady defence deals supposedly aimed at our designated PM. Now, how's that???

But, I say BUT....there is complete silence on the "floor" as of now for the very grave allegations. By comparison, the people called to give police statements are by no means committed even more serious offence to warrant such action by the police. Phew...that is really boleh-la!

So, what's next for the country beloved citizens? Brush off the allegations like our bravado current PM? On what assurance that his belief is right and all the allegations are wrong? The people want to know. His yesterday's media statement was akin to saying "they are the untouchables" unless you are outside. So, what HE says is all that matters.

I thought all along 'no one is above the law' in Malaysia!!! This very statement always come out from the horsemouth of our powers that be, whenever they want to "put a banana skin under someone's foot". Know what I mean?

Oh, when the world economy is nearing melt down, Malaysia still comes out unscathed. Are you sure? Yeah, I heard the news on NTV7 yesterday. Again, our PM's statement about it was so assuring. Are you forgetting....what HE says is all matters. So, Malaysia is not affected.

Singapore is already scrambling, US comes out with billions, EU stand-by trillions ready to salvage their economies but....hey, Malaysia no need to do anything! Malaysia is busy on something else of utmost importance as we all know i.e. Who's in, Who's out Competition.

Seriously, Malaysia is shielded by 'denial syndrome' still. Bloody Hell!

For a man at 40 has certainly grown older and wiser. Can't imagine how a nation has not grown wiser at 50, perhaps, for a nation it is still young.

Somehow as you mature at this 40 age bracket which is the ripe age for a man to have everything in place, at least i.e. stable career and happy family. It can be perceived as a complete cycle. One should look forward to further enhancing his quality life i.e. improving.

Occasionally I have come across people planning a "retirement" age at 40. Certainly not about stopping everything and do nothing. But rather finding the quality time to lead a quality life. Now, that is call living a life to the fullest. Simply put it, it depends on how one does thing or pursue dream of enormous scale that makes the possible impossible and vice versa.

The destiny is always in one's own hand. I'm pretty sure now is time to build on our next generation. Success or failure is depending on how we nurture our next gen. It is not all about us till the end of time. It just can't be right that we enjoy the fruit of labor to the fullest and leave our next gen to fend for their own.

Life is short. But a nation's life can go on for centuries. This again will turn our attention to the current affair in our boleh-land. I can't help it but wanting to take a swipe at the transition of power that is going on and on and on. Because we don't want to see this beloved land goes from "hero to zero" for our next gen.

Put aside our designated new PM, don't really want to talk about him. The talking point here is the DPM, whom could be the subsequent PM in the future if the hierarchy of PM's appointment practised in Malaysia is to be followed through and decided by selected few.

If you read the statements by the aspired so-called DPM candidates, you will certainly spit blood. One of them even has the nose to say he is qualified because he has never stepped on the toes of all PMs!!! This very candidate is himself tainted with alleged wrongdoing. Now, how's that? Hey, we are looking at someone assisting in running a nation-la. Being a 'yes man' is akin to shoe polishing only! I'm flabbergasted.

No wonder they are labelled a bunch of jokers by Dr. M. Boleh-land will be Boliao-land (finished). To be honest, this time it is really of no interest to me, not bother to know who will be and be not - they are just not up to the mark!

THERE IS NO CHANGE UNLESS THEY ARE CHANGED.

The Flip, The Flop

So, after all the flipping, we finally see him flopping for good. But it's not all about the man alone!

As the saying goes, he is still regarded as someone who gives the most "voicing space" to Malaysians, until recently I guess. What goes around comes around! Is his successor the right choice? Well, you can surely say 'NO' because taking the cue from Dr. M's latest statement, our next PM is also seen as indecisive and competency in question. Read this, excerpts from Malaysian Insider.....

....Asked to comment on Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak as the possible prime minister, Dr Mahathir said he was not impressed with Najib's performance as deputy prime minister now.

Dr Mahathir described Najib as an incompetent deputy prime minister because the latter did not have his own stand and was always following Abdullah's advice, hence Najib needed to change when taking over the helm later.

On the possible candidate for Najib's deputy, Dr Mahathir said it should be Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin, adding that the other current contenders for the post of Umno deputy president were only "jokers". - Bernama

Does that mean the new PM's approval rating has taken a beating before it gets started? Did he just imply that our next DPM could be a joker??? Now, that's interesting. So, who is the best bet, the most qualified to become Malaysia next PM and DPM then?

Ya, ya, the majority of Malaysians yearn for that someone else from the other side to take office, not from the same old "production line" that give us the clever citizens without a choice. PM's role is not for passing over the baton just like that.

What does that lead us to? Tolerate another 5 years of flip-flop rule? The answer might be bloody 'Yes'. You gather a bunch of party members from one-race party to choose a PM for 25 million Malaysians of all races?

Shut up! This has been the practice all along, one may argue. But isn't time has changed, the political climate has changed too! Because we have seen bad decisions been made and those bad decisions have also made Malaysians suffer. Malaysia choke at progress where it matters most.

The conclusion here is 'we have lost the game even before it started'. Where do we place our hopes from now? If Mr. Clean can't do the job, surely Mr. Not-So-Clean....errrr....well, I dare not hope!

Bye-bye....till we decide again in 2013.

I have just been informed by the Bukit Bendera MP’s office that they, along with several Penang-based civil society activists, are planning a drive to the Kamunting Detention in Taiping on the second day of Raya to convey their greetings to the ISA detainees:

Flowers, cards and gifts, if any, will be passed on to Raja Petra and the other ISA detainees to let them know that they are not forgotten on this special day. RPK’s wife Marina has been informed of the event and hope that she will also be able to join us. The Press will also be invited for this event.

KUALA LUMPUR, Sept 27 — By a small margin, Malaysians think opposition leader Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would make a better prime minister compared with Datuk Seri Najib Razak, according to a survey conducted recently by the independent Merdeka Centre.

I would agree with this survey because it's simply a race-based party getting the support from one particular race only.

Coupled with a large percentage of this group of supporters whom may NOT be internet savvy like the city folks, will only read and believe in what the mainstream media write or publish. This will help sway the support. We all know that. Ya, ya, some jerks will come out and deny this survey. Now it's all about "you say your version and I say my version" depending on which side you take.

Just because in Malaysia the yesterday's leaders (many of them) do not know when to give way and by clinging on is causing a lot of wasted time and resources of the country. Some even with "tainted" background are still considered the choice to lead the country. How are we going to progress??? That's is why Malaysia is always playing catch-up with a tiny country down south! We are lagging, as a matter of fact.

Talking about producing 60,000 PhD holders by 2020, will that do any good to the country IF all of them end up "unwanted"??? We have jobless graduates abundant, alright. Spending huge amount of tax-payers' money on so-called re-training programs given by the garmen. Why so? Because we just produce them like a stinking tofu (beancurd) factory, with no substance! The real brains are all either stay put in overseas or migrated!

When we mention the very word MERITOCRACY, there is talk about being unfair because the poor Ahmads can't compete. Afraid of not being able to compete, where in the world you find progress without competition??? Now a minister is "projecting" 60,000 PhD holders (initially 100,000, scaled down, for fearing not able to achieve the target!) in 12 years' time!!! Goodness me. A cheap publicity of sort for him anyway.

Phd of what kind? One may ask this funny question.... So, it is all the same. We are not producing our leaders of tomorrow when the basics have already gone wrong right from the beginning. When the education system can only produce "half-baked" graduates, we can only have leaders of yesteryears!

It is again boils down to the people's choice - do we want to change for the better? Do we have the courage - the people's power? THEY can play 'passing the baton' as much as they like, but WE ALL HAVE A CHOICE TO MAKE. Don't forget, the baton can one day drops off to the ground....like the US relay teams did in the Olympics recently! Hahaha.

We need a MALAYSIAN LEADER. IT'S NOW OR NEVER.
